Rebar Multi-Tool, Replaceable Wire Cutters and Saw, Coyote Tan

Before you buy this tool, it's good to know what "Black Oxide" coatings are like. They are a very tough black coating, but they come looking sort of "pre-worn" just by the nature of the finish. Don't expect this tool to look perfectly pitch black. It comes out of the box looking like it's been riding in your pocket for years already. I love the look. If you like a rugged multi-tool, you will too. The tool set here is fantastic. Good, strong pliers, a straight and serrated blade, a saw, a file, can/bottle opener, reamer with sewing eye, phillips, 2 flat heads, and wire cutters that are replaceable if damaged. The only missing tool is a pair of scissors, but to be honest I've never been a fan of Leatherman scissors and tend to reach for the Victorinox scissors on my keychain tool instead. They just plain cut better. Always recommend a SAK on the keys, but that's another topic entirely. This tool is lighter that it appears! It carries easily. I actually carry mine in my small 5th jean pocket with no issues. This is also a very nice tool to look at. It's got a classic Leatherman style that brings me back to the old PST but with hardened features and modern touches like locking tools. This thing is also rock solid feeling and backed by Leatherman's 25 year warranty. If you want a tough as nails multi-tool in a compact package, this is the one to choose. To give an idea of how this compares to other tools: It is not as refined as the Charge series. If you're used to the Charge, this may feel rough around the edges. But keep in mind this tool is a user with tough features at a good price point. It is not meant to compete with the higher end tools in the Leatherman line. It is also not as beefy as tools like the Supertool, which it is really a compact version of, or the new OHT. It weighs in a bit more than 3 ounces lighter than an OHT, so if you're looking at the newer tools wondering which one will ride in the pocket better this is the way to go. If you want a tough tool that you can use with one hand, go with the OHT. As I said in the title, this is my current favorite Leatherman. I love the capabilities packed by it, I love the weight, I love the "pre-worn" look of the Black Oxide finish, it's just a fantastic tool.

Love the Rebar so far. I didn’t need scissors nor other small add-ons. Just the basics. Blade and saw are very sharp. Beware. Took a little while to find the “product registration” page on the Leatherman website. A few buyers mentioned an oily film on their tool upon opening the box. Mine had the same thing, but wasn’t a bother. Just seemed like evidence of a well made product. If you are a get-er-done type, you’ll appreciate the quality of the Rebar.

I feel like this tool has its attractive points but in this day In age, we need to change a few things 1: Get rid of the 420HC steel. There are farrrr superior steels in the same price bracket (as far as cost to manufacture) like 154cm, 14C28N, D2 , I could go on and on honestly, my point is that the blade steels on these haven't changed since their release and I think that's a problem. Yes, there are other models (totally different tool sets) with upgraded steels but you should not have to buy an upgraded/expensive model to have a contemporary steel. By the way, I'm not saying that it should have the best of the best, I'm saying that they should come standard with something in the same price bracket such as one of the steels that I mentioned earlier. 2: No pocket clip on a tool of this size is ridiculous. Period. point blank. If the P4 and Arc can have a clip, I don't see any reason why this one cannot. The wave is capable of having a clip, which came out over 20 years ago so it's definitely not a time related issue. Leatherman COULD DO THIS IF THEY WANTED, they just don't care enough about their consumers to listen, people have been asking for a clip on this tool since it's inception. All in all, it's a functional tool thats compact and versatile. It should hold up just fine.. OH, BIG LETTERS HERE: DO NOT BUY THE $9 PROTECTION PLAN. LEATHERMANS HAVE A 25 YEAR WARRANTY. THEY WILL FIX WHATEVER BREAKS ON THE TOOL OR IF IT CANT BE FIXED DUE TO A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE, THEY WILL REPLACE THE TOOL. An Extra 9-10 bucks for a protection plan you don't need is just giving money away. Leatherman stands behind their products, they even have an upgraded warranty if you register your tool on their website, it takes it from 25 years to a 40-year warranty which is basically life. Once you hand it down to your son,if you haven't lost it by then 😆 and it's still standing up well, there's no need for a warranty. It's service life is complete.

One of my favorite brands, I don’t love all the brand advertising by plastering names over everything these days, but I love my Leatherman I wear that branded sheath with pride. It stays on my belt for easy access and I never leave home without it. The quality as always is outstanding, it’s a great upgrade from my grandfathers original Leatherman. At first I wasn’t sure about the locking tools since I never had an issue with them closing on me with my old one plus I thought it’d be a hassle, but it’s never gotten in my way it’s pretty seamless. The size is a bit larger which I like, the old one dug into my hand a little bit the new one allows me to get a better more comfortable grip. All in all I can’t recommend any of Leatherman’s multi-tools enough for anyone that is considering them for EDC or just something to have in a tool kit.

Ce Leatherman est un remplacement de un que j'ai depuis plusieurs années. Un cadeaux de mon anciens patron passé a trébas ! Le personal survival tool est beaucoup moins bien équipé que LE REBAR. Un peu plus pesant évidament ! Mais avec beaucoup plus de fonction séciritaires..Les outils se barrent ..Le fini est beaucoup soignée un bonne évolution du produit. La seul b-mole est que la garantie se limite a 25 ans et non plus a vie..

Meine Motivation das Rebar zu kaufen war primär die Gewichtsersparnis - es ist leichter als das Wave und ebenso leichter als das Charge. Auf längeren Outdoor-Touren ist man einfach froh hier und da ein paar 100g einsparen zu können - das Rebar machts möglich. Wenn es einem darum geht eine klappbare Zange mit ein paar netten Zusatzfunktionen zu haben liegt man mit dem Rebar nicht verkehrt. Soweit war alles entgratet und die oftmals beschriebenen "Macken", dass es zu stramm verschaubt ist und andere Werkzeuge mit raus kommen, wenn man z.B. den Schraubendreher zieht, konnte ich mit Einsatz von Plastilube verbessern. Nach dieser Behandlung lässt es sich auch etwas leichter öffnen. Im Laufe der Jahre wird jedes Leatherman etwas klappriger, aber nichts hält für die Ewigkeit.
