Amazing watch for its price
Amazon notified the watch would arrive in 14 days, yet it ended arriving in just 7 (which for an international buy is quite amazing). The watch arrived in perfect condition, with its original box and protective plastics still not peeled off.As this is the J1 version (Made in Japan) it does not come with the typical Seiko instruction manual, but a smaller paper with instructions on how to set the date and the time. This watch is powered by the 7S36c movement, built in-house by Seiko. It is not hackable nor hand-windable, so it requires daily use in order to stay powered. The dial is extremely legible, with the very bright LumiBrite lume.I've been wearing this watch daily since I got it (over a week ago), only not wearing it on Sundays. It has yet to stop, and perhaps more amazingly, it's still accurate on time (so, my own must be gaining or losing very few seconds per day). I've yet to set the time again, the minute hand is still accurate. That the watch is still pretty much perfect minute-wise (after 9 days) is incredible precision for a watch that costs less than US $200.Keep in mind that this watch is 43mm in diameter, and perhaps more importantly it is 49-50mm lug-to-lug, so it wears somewhat big if you have a thin wrist. All in all, an amazing watch! It's big, it's detailed, it's automatic, it has an exhibition case and, if you get lucky, you might get one with outstanding precision! Even if yours loses/gains many seconds per day, you can bring your watch to a watchmaker so that he regulates it for you and keep accurate time. The 7S36c movement is a workhorse movement, and won't need servicing for many years.Enjoy the watch! If you don't care about it being non hackable and non hand-windable, this is a LOT more watch for the price compared to the new Seiko 5s. This is an amazing choice for your first automatic, and could easily be your only one for your whole lifetime.

Great and simple "everywear" watch
I collect Seiko's and this is an underrated model for sure. Its a field watch with 24hr time. Its a bigger watch at 42mm yet has a slim 12mm thick. Bigger than most "field watches" out there that cost triple than this watch. The brushed finish is great for a low key look. I love the 7S36 movement which is proven reliable and very accurate. Its easy to read and provides some moister resistance as this is NOT a dive watch! The one draw back and I have seen some negativity on this is the bracelet. ITS a SEIKO bRaCeLet! They are suppose to be jingly and make noise! But it is comfortable and the squeaking went away after a few days on the wrist. If you do not like it look at the SNZG15 it does not have the metal bracelet and comes with a cheaper nylon. OR Replace with a good 22mm nato strap or leather! Over all this is another great time piece from the Seiko 5 Sports line up and as this is 1 of about 30 Seiko's I have it will get its fair share of wrist time! Do not hesitate this needs to be in a growing collection!

Great Watch
This is a pretty nice watch. I like that it’s mechanical and automatic. It’s not hacking or hand winding, but that’s why I bought it; something different. It has a good, strong heart beat and day/date complication. It also has great lume on the hour markers and hands (not on the numbers), which is great to see in the dark. It has about a 40 hour power reserve. I only let it run out of power a few times as I wear this watch everywhere now!

Very Nice
I have been wearing a silver-tone Citizen for the past 8 years, and I wanted something with a dark face as my close-up vision isn't what it was when I bought my Citizen. I went through 2 similar Citizen's before I settled on this. It's a bit heavy, and the face is plenty large enough. I like the metal band, even though others have complained. It does squeak around a bit, but I figure I'm doing pretty good if that is the only problem. Easy to read, sweeping second hand, and real easy to set. I really can't speak to this J-version being any better than the non-J version. Some think it's everything. The lume is good, but doesn't seem to last long. Not a deal breaker. It's a nice watch for $150, and I enjoy it.1 week later - I realized that if you don't wear the watch, the watch will stop. This is not the end of the world, but I have to re-set the watch after just 8 hours of sitting on the dresser. It is fast to set, though. Something to keep in mind.

A Classic....but there's a catch
The watch I received is great. Now the issue is....where is the manual and warranty card? That was not mentioned on the description and we shouldn't ask because it says NEW condition. The seller says it's AUTHENTIC. The watch seems genuine enough but we will never have proof of this until it breaks - the issue is then, what about the warranty?. Seiko USA never responded to my email asking about this watch. The watch I received keeps time as designed - wear it and it will be accurate. Visually, the watch seems to be the genuine article but Seiko USA has not responded to my email. I hope this seller does keep their promise in regards to their in-store warranty service; for Seiko it's 3 years. Seiko customer service maybe biased against online sales if not directly from their web store. This lack of customer service response from Seiko maybe an indicator of their true nature - they don't respond to customers buying from unauthorized seller of their products. I'm simple and I respond to simple yes or no. If it is a YES - genuine, then all of it's manual and warranty card should be included as long as it's new. The registration online, when completed, should return an email acknowledging the product, genuine or otherwise - the NO repsonse. I think it's worth the risk buying from Amazon as there are buyer protections in effect and Seiko USA should acknowledge this by recognizing sellers at Amazon.
