This does work, if you're willing to accept some minor limitations. It's the second one I bought-the first lasted about 4 years until the plastic knob and one of the grid sections failed. You need to pre-cut the potatoes fairly small to fit into the cutting area without forcing--if you don't, it will jam. The fries come out fine, though on the short side. But it does take the trauma out of slicing. Easy to keep clean, but keep your fingers away from the cutting grid. Overall, I'm happy.

Awesome! Better than I expected! You can take one potato, cut it in half, run them through this device and have plenty of fries for 2 people. I then put it in the air fryer, spray a little oil on it. Perfect! I cant tell you how happy I am with this product. Plus other reviews said it was flimsy. NOPE. strong it is! Just be careful not to touch the business end of the cutting grate. I did and cut myself. Not bad. FAFO. LOL. I will be buying a few more for gifts! Thanks

This is a very good product. Easy to use and easy to clean. I am 64 and it was nice to not have to cut my potatoes by hand.

Works OK on small pieces that can fit in the Shoot. I used it on onions and I halved or quarter it. The result was fine.
