Heavy Duty Metal Used, Better Quality Than Expected
10-16-18I'm reviewing the 1157 Bracket Style Sockets in packs of 4. My reason for purchase was to make my own DC variable load circuit tester, which I'll update with a photo later. Each bulb is from 2.75A to 2.9A, so having up to 8 in parallel, so each additional bulb adds another 2.75A to 2.9A. I have 8 installed in a large project box, so after installing all 8 bulbs, I can load a circuit up to 22A to almost 24A. This verifies that the circuit is able to handle the current, which is more reliable than 'ohming' each lead in a harness. This is the best way (load testing) I've found to test circuit integrity in the automotive field, but this also applies to anything that uses current. You'll just need to adjust AC or DC current and the load appropriate to either the gauge of the wire or to the fuse that circuit is rated for.As for the sockets... wow! They were much better quality than I expected. The metal bracket portion is more stout and rigid, to the point I couldn't bend by hand. The contact base is not great, but in my application, nothing is exposed to the elements and only used for immediate testing, then stored. For the cost, I'm not complaining in the least. I purchased 2 packs of the 4, as I stated earlier, I used 8 for my project. In the future, this would certainly be on a "would purchase again list", at least at this point. Just realize, this isn't an OEM socket for any automotive application, and instead strictly for projects or hand made or modified applications. I bought this from the seller "Extras 4 Recreational Vehicles" and shipped by them, which I feel is important to list this info. I've come across sellers with variances in their items, including knockoffs, even if listed as same brand. I'll post an update with a durability review.

functions as advirtised
This was exactly what I needed, with one exception: It would be nice if the wires were 2 different colors that corresponded to Low / High for the filament. its not a big deal, but requires continuity testing or trial and error prior to final connections. I used them to add a bulb to my tail lights to make them brighter (LED bulbs)

Replacment for Camper, RV tail lights!
These sockets will fit into the poorly made RV, Camper tail light assemblies. Great replacement for the 2 prong tension to bulb version.Cut the old sockets out, solder the wires on and screw the bracket into aluminum of inner existing housing. No more fooling around with junk.Thank you, Brian

Excellent quality light sockets!
I purchased these after ordering some bad quality ones from a different seller here. The other ones shorted out and the brake light wouldn't work correctly on others. I just replaced the two on my custom bike build with these and they work perfectly and are made very well. You can use the housing for grounding or drill a small hole in the L bracket and run your own ground. Excellent item and would order it again for any other projects.

Worked like a charm.
Worked great. Good quality. I used them for something they weren't designed for but the solid mounting point and the ability to actually use an 1157 bulb made all the difference. Too many of the Asian-made holders just don't work. Good stuff.

Steel not brass
I used a pair of these to modify the front park lights on my 48 gmc pickup. I wanted directionals as well as park lights. The old trucks only had 1 tail/ stop light and park lights in front. Reproduction lights are 65.00 each. These sockets are ok but are steel with nickel plating not brass so you must consider your application.
