Exactly what was needed.
Fantastic product. Bought XL for a 16.2h big boned QH. His hocks are big and the Velcro and elastic allow for a customer fit. This stays on and in place and has great padding and protection. Seems super durable as well. Bought this for my older horse who was tearing up his hock getting up from nap time. This stays on inside and out in the field and doesn’t budge. The elastic makes it comfortable for the horse and his hock sore is healing beautifully.

Holding up to daily use
Our horse wears these daily at night to pad his hooks. They work great and are holding up well. They stay put too!

Effective but, as they said, not great for horse in a paddock
When it stayed on the horse it was quite effective. The hock sore healed. But there is a fine line between tight enough to stay on (not rotate or slip down and become more of a bell boot) and not so tight that it swells around it. But, to be fair, the horse lives outside and they noted that it’s not recommended for turnout. The horse ultimately destroyed it but I think that was mostly due to his annual and odd hock itchiness and he just wanted it OFFF.

Works well for us!
I was nervous about this product at first, but my sensitive ottb mare gets hock sores in two places on each leg, so I needed to find a solution. Happy to say that this worked well for us! I’ve been using since December (two months) and they’ve only fallen off twice. Ive found that If I leave them on as loose as possible while still feeling like they won’t slide down, they mostly stay in place. If they cause white patches of fur (which they haven’t yet), that seems like a minor problem compared to chronic sores and the damage those can cause to their legs! I’m Buying a second pair so that I can always have a clean one. I did wash the first pair and they held up well. While the outsides get muddy and such, the inside fuzzy part remains quite clean. She lives outside in a paddock, for reference, and has been wearing these 24/7 except during work.

Worked to heal sores but started wearing out fast!
They worked long enough to heal my horse’s hock sores pretty much but they started wearing out after wearing them for protection for about 3 weeks. His pen is hard and gravely when dry and after seeing what it did to these sheilds it is no wonder he had hock sores! He has a small pen with a stall with bedding but he prefers to roll on the hard stuff! They do wash well which I had to do often since the sore was oozing and the medical goop the vet had me use made the fleece get stiff and gross. Maybe the washing and goop made the material wear down faster.

They won’t stay in place!
Great idea, but can’t get them to stay on

They work!
I have a 14.3h quarter horse… I got an extra large to fit his legs. He had hockey sores from lying down and getting up off his hocks and these boots are perfect! They have stayed on even in turnout and in his stall. I haven’t noticed any of his circulation being cut off or any discomfort on his part. I’m very happy with them and would buy them again!

Helpful for healing hock sores
My elderly mare developed sores on both hocks that were not healing well. Using these boots helped prevent her from injuring them every time she lay down. It took a few tries to get them on snug enough to stay up. Once we got that figured out they have stayed in place, even though she lays down and gets up several times during the night. Early on one slipped down and got muddy when she walked on it; it was difficult to remove by hand washing. It would have been easier to machine wash but I didn’t want all that dirt in my washer. These boots are well made and best of all, my mares’ hock sores are healing well.
