Works well on Generator and Boat batteries
I purchased 2 of these, one for my generator and one for my boat. I have a different controller where I can monitor the actual voltage, but connect it to this panel for both uses. The panels are about a year old. They are mounted outside in the weather and have worked well. For my generator: it has kept my gel battery topped off and have strong starts every time. For the boat: It has supplied enough power to keep my 890CCA battery maintained during the winter and when the boat is not in use during the season, I have kept it plugged in and maintains a full charge. Given my boat battery is fairly big, this panel has worked fine. When I place my battery tester on it the tester confirms a 98% charge after winter. Pretty impressive considering the size of the battery and only 10W out from the panel. The panels get direct daylight for about 5 hours a day and then are in shadow. The controllers show charging still in the shadow so direct sunlight is not exactly needed but if you want to maximize your capabilities, I'd say make sure they have enough direct light for at least 1/2 of the day. Otherwise, the shade doesn't appear to hurt it any. Cloudy days still produce a good charge. Going to purchase another soon for my father's new generator that I am going to buy for him.

Nice unit but check your polarity.
This is a very well made solar charger. The only problem I had was that the polarity is backward from the other one I have. My bad for having assumed that the same connector would have the same polarity, but I guess IEEE standards don't trickle down to this level of engineering. No matter, once I reversed the polarity of the solar panel wires connected directly to the battery on my RV everything worked like a dream. It's a good value and should add years of life to my RV battery. I would recommend this unit if you're looking for a weatherproof outdoor-rated solar-powered 12v battery trickle charger.

Works good so far.
I have this to keep a 12 volt lead-acid battery charges that powers lights in storage units that don't have electricity. So far it's been working great. ****One WARNING ⚠️ the plug on the output side to the battery is the standard plug most all tricked chargers (like a Battery Tender) use HOWEVER the polarity on their plug is the REVERSE of all the standard plugs. So keep this in mind if you're going to use it on equipment that already has a charger pigtail installed. ****

Bracket best for portable
Bought this as part of an outdoor solar-powered lantern project at my home, to charge a 20 AH battery. I mounted the panel permanently on the house sloped roof but had to modify the bracket to do so. As other reviewers demonstrate the bracket does work well for portable use but could have been made more useful if the manufacturer provided a few more holes. That said the cabling they provide is complete and useful for a quick and/or portable setup. My photos shows the panel, cabling and controller under test with a 12 volt DC candelabra lamp -- I guess this is the proverbial "solar powered night light" ;-)Although the provided controller works well as intended, I ended up using another one that has additional features more useful for my application.

Works as advertised
I got this charger to maintain the starter battery on my backup generator. Works great. It's not designed to a rapid charge, but a slow trickle charge. It's small panel size is just perfect to mount to the top of the generator housing cover. Cables are long enough to reach. Quick connect connectors make installation a breeze. Well worth the money for what it does.

No charge to battery, bad solar or wire, no tech number too
I bought it this April because of could in case of a power outage, I finally put it all together 2 months ago, one day my battery dies, the controller shows yellow light charging. But it is really not I test the voltage that it is trying to charge it is zero from solar.sure it powers light saying charging. but zero charges. I move solar still nothin', maybe bad wiring or maybe bad solar panel. something. I suggest buying all things you need and test them right away. I got a bad one, and I m out the money. NO tech number, sure it says tech support, but it's all lies, I search google, amazon all over for the last 2 months, I decide to call it quits, and write this bad review. I am out 65 dollars, and wasted time searching and putting it all together. I suggest trying other companies they show a tech number and have a website or something to help people, I feel this is all made up and I bought garbage. Well, lesson learns 65 dollars wasted, and over 10 hours trying to get it working and searching for help. But there is no one to help. So give up like me, and do not buy this product, and found a company that has a website and a tech number. Can you send a new one? It never charges fast enough I think the panel is bad. I would like to try a new one. Please send to 306 Dawes st, WI 54901

Works great
I use this to maintain the battery in a lawntractor. The shed housing it has no power, but plenty of sun exposure works well for maintaining while sitting 3 months over the winter
