A very good sequel
This second book by Jay was, to me, even better than Swimmer Boy in the manner that I think his writing skill has improved. I adore Liam and can understand the struggles that Alex is undergoing. The ending was a bit of a surprise for me, but a pleasant one for certain. I am looking forward another installment in this series. I would give 4.5 stars for this book.

Awesome Story 👌
Another great story with a lot of plot twists. I had trouble putting the book when I needed to be doing other things 🙃 Can't wait for the next book!

A little disappointing
Around the 70% mark in the book, I became frustrated with the misunderstandings between Liam and Alex. As well, I was disconcerted by the author’s continued third-person references to the MCs. Alex was often called “the jock”. An example might be, “The jock worried about how his parents would react.” Then the events that occurred at prom, based on Alex’s behavior throughout the book, didn’t feel believable. Rick’s homophobic cruelty wasn’t surprising but still awful to imagine. I hope Rick gets his karmic payback by turning out to be a closet case. I’m looking forward to the next installment, as I’m rooting for Alex and Liam‘s happily ever after.

Another real and sweet tale with the Fairmont Boys
I really enjoy Jay Argent's Fairmont Boys books. I hear a third is on the way. This second one, I Am Not Gay, deftly deals with one gay teen's struggle to deal with his sexuality, especially given peer pressure and parental pressure. And all of that balanced against the pressure he feels caused by the love he has for another boy. It's a great love story, and a great gay coming-of-age tale. I heartily recommend this book.

This book tells the truth of many young gays in the U. S.
I thought it a good story line and was easy reading.

I found the story very enticing. I think any teenager can identify with the uncertainty of who they are and finding their true self. Do you be who you are or do you follow the crowd? This book shows the realization we are who we are when we can say it out loud.

Waiting for the next book
What is going to happen to Alex and Liam, is Alex going to prove himself to Liam and show everyone that he is not afraid to be gay and is in with Liam, or is he going to keep living the way he is? Maybe in the next book you could tell if there is a happy ending or not.
