I purchased this night light 5 years ago for my grandsons’ bathroom. It has been plugged in there the whole time and has worked beautifully! The nightlight comes on only when it is dark. It’s very pretty!

Very small and cute. Not very bright, but bright enough

Several years ago, I found this nightlight in a grocery store, of all places. I wasn't even looking for a nightlight, but there it was, so cute, and I had to buy it. It was the night light for my bedroom for 4 years. When I moved, I completely forgot to grab it, and I had been missing that nightlight since then. I searched many stores but could never find it, and thought I would never find it again.Well. Imagine my surprise when it showed up on Amazon. Needless to say, I was thrilled.It just got here. There are only a few tiny details that are different from the one I found in that grocery store years back. The old one stayed lit as long as it was plugged in. This one, I thought wasn't working at first because I plugged it into the bathroom socket that I know works, and nothing happened. I thought I was going to have to return it for a new one. I left it plugged in, just for decoration, to go get in contact with the seller. Well, when I turned out the bathroom light, guess who lit up? My favorite nightlight!!The only other difference is that in my original one, the fish were a little bit smaller and they moved around inside the little globe. This one, the fish are bigger and they don't move. But, it's okay - this is as close to the original as I'm going to get, and I'm still beyond happy that I found it.The original was still going strong, despite being plugged in and on all day, every day, for 4 years. I hope that this one does the same.

Fish are not in water so don’t “float” …because that would be dangerous (note to self). Lol And FYI for anyone who assumed they would, like me. Wasn’t an issue and not reason for 4 stars. That is because it’s just okay. It came scuffed up, despite being in packaging like it’s brand new and it didn’t come off when wiped. It had a little debris on it from what looked to be the craft materials on the back. No big deal. I bought it for night time potty training so we wouldn’t have to turn the bright light on but it’s not bright enough at all for that. It would need to be about 2-3X as bright for that purpose. It could work if you don’t want anything too bright to disturb sleep though. It also very slowly changes colors so it’s not a disturbing color change for sleep. Also, you have to wait a second or two for it to turn on in the dark and turn off in the light. When I first plugged it in, I thought it was broken. I tried another outlet and then tried again and then waited a couple of seconds and it turned on.

I need a nightlight in the bathroom. Period. It has to be one that has a manual on-off switch, as the lighting from the window affects the auto on/off type of nightlight. I have tried, believe me! My old nightlight rolled over one night, gurgled, and gave up the ghost, and I could not find a replacement locally. I saw these at a GREAT PRICE, less than I expected to pay, and got two! They are perfect! The little light cover diffuses the light, but in no way diminishes it. The on-off switch is easy to feel and to use--on at night, off during the day. It is attractive and adds to the decor. I am sooo pleased, and would recommend it unreservedly to anyone who wants a manual nightlight! They were shipped quickly, packaged well, and arrived safely.

While it does say auto on/off, I figured there would be an on/off switch, but that is not the case. It does work automatically by sensing light and dark, but I don't necessarily want it "always on" in a dark room due to power concerns and not wanting to kill the actual lights inside (I don't know if they're replaceable). Beyond that, it's not very bright. It's adorable as a novelty item, but doesn't really provide much light.

Just went to the bathroom at midnight and realized this light has been plugged in there for 6 years. Still works great.
