These are great for learning to read. My 6 year old is so happy when she is able to get through the whole book. The simple books make it easier to learn and the sight word flash cards are so helpful.

My son loves to read these books and feel so happy and proud of himself when he can! Definite confidence booster for those early readers!

These cards are a wonderful way to cement sight words into your child's memory. Before I have my little one read one of the books we discuss the sight words in the story and IF the sight words can be decoded phonetically I have my child practice that a few times. Then I have her read the stories, lastly we go through the flash cards by flashing the sight words and then reading the sentence on the back.I love that the sight words are all context based. It really helps kids remember and understand sight words in a fun way instead of boring rote memorization.Consistency is key. Do it everyday until mastered. Read 2-3 of the books and go through the flash cards. Then move up to the next level

These books are excellent for beginner readers! They even came with flashcards.

My son just finished a Young 5's program and is out of school for the summer. He was beginning to learn sight words and I was told he was a Level A reader. It wasn't until summer vacation actually started that I realized I didn't really understand what that meant. I thought it would be simple to go to the store and pick up some books for him to keep up with his newly acquired skills during summer break. I had tried purchasing other learning-to-read style books and they were too advanced for him despite it being the "earliest" stage. Insert BOB Books. My son can actually somewhat read these books and is learning fast from them. The back of the books in this set actually say they are Level B and C books but these are perfect for him to build on his vocabulary. I especially love this set because it comes with flash cards of sight words found in the stories. On the opposite side of each flash card has a picture and sentence that coordinates to the picture, using the sight word. It comes with 10 books and each book introduces 3 new sight words. The sentence structures are perfect, using a lot of the same words frequently in the same book, but in different orders so they aren't reading the same sentence over and over. They are seeing the same words in different orders of the sentence, creating familiarity and confidence, along with other commonly seen words. This is our first BOB Books purchase and I will definitely be getting more, although I wish they all came with flash cards (not all sets do).

Great books paper but nice quality and color

This series gave my grandson the confidence he needed as a beginning reader. When he made it through the first book in the box, he wanted to read it to everyone he could! There's something about being able to turn pages and read a real book that made the sight words "click" for him. Now I have no problem sitting him down to read a book to Grannie, which is saying a lot for this little active fella! The only complaint I had was the second book in the box jumped a few steps and started introducing consonant blends way too early, like "drop". We hadn't gotten that far yet and I had hoped that the author would have more books with simple sight words.

I went back and forth on which decoding books to get. I finally went with the BOB books and I do not regret it!! My 6 year old loves them and they have helped with his confidence. My 3.5 year old wants to learn to read now and will “read” the books by telling the simple story and feels confident about himself as well. I will be ordering more once we are done with this set
