This box is awesome!!! I don't know why there are bad reviews. It's SO nice, clean, closed so seamlessly you can barely see the line where it opens. Unfinished, perfect for wood burning, which I got it for. Fabulous purchase, for a great price. 100% recommend!

It looks well made. Came without a single splinter. I’m using it for decoupage project. I sanded it and it was smooth before and after. So far so good. The metal things are very sturdy and we’re placed very nicely and professionally. I thought it was a little expensive but the quality is great and it’s walnut and made in the US. That was important to me. So I definitely recommend this product. I just ordered more since it’s a quality product.

I first got this box as a keep sake but wasn't going to put much time into it but it looks so great and I'm so happy with it that I really think I am going to put time into this box to make it just how I want it. Thanks so much! It's perfect. Don't understand the bad reviews or I got lucky? Hope not because I might be back for more!

It’s thin basic wood. What are you expecting for $10? It’s solid, works well, as described. A little stain makes it look much nicer if you care but if want to attach a latch use glue as screws are likely to come out the others side.

This is a decent little box for the price. It was nicely crafted and fit together well. Remember, you are getting what you are paying for. It suited my needs.

I bought this box for woodburning and it was more expensive than what I could get from the craft store. It does look more polished than the craft store options so I would say it was worth a little extra money.The wood is VERY soft. This makes burning it easier, but also makes it dent easily. I would be gentle with this box. It's basswood, not walnut. It does say "basswood" in the description, but people seemed to be confused by the brand name.It is cheap wood and takes stain VERY easily. It stains darker than expectd and doesn't really allow an opportunity to wipe off any excess. A dark stain is not ideal for woodburning, so keep this in mind if that is your intention. I used 1 coat of golden oak stain in the box in the picture.The hinges do not come off so that is also a challenge for staining.The most frustrating part is that the glue on the inside edges is very visible. And staining makes this very obvious because the glue doesn't take stain.I would buy this again, but I need to figure out a way to compensate for some of these problems.

My daughter got this box to give to a friend. We stained it, she painted it with a trendy design and we sprayed it with a finish. This box came out looking like something out of a very trendy store for a lot of money. I was thrilled with the end results and it was a one of a kind with her own personal style. It all starts with a good raw product to work with.

Too expensive for the quality

What a treat to buy a simple, well made product like this made by civilized folks. It's a tad more expensive than similar items made overseas, but I'd rather buy from U.S.A. as a matter of ethics. This is nicely put together and accepts any decent wood stain / clear wood finish to create a fine presentation box.

Not flimsy, I pound the hell out of it on a regular basis. Clean edges/corners, flat bottom, sturdy hinges. If you need a wooden box this size, just buy this thing because you probably won't be able to make one yourself much better.

The box is coming apart in the one corner after putting a coat of stain on it.Had to glue it back together.

Simple, well crafted boxes. Nothing too fancy about them but this is exactly what we were looking for. We decorated them for my mother and mother in law and they loved them.

Good for price, had to shave a little off hinge side to have it close all the way.
