room correction is MASSIVE
I have a Yamaha receiver (R-N803) that I never bothered using the app with in the past, until I got a subwoofer and wanted to use it to set the crossover and do general bass management. After getting the app I thought, why not also try room correction using YPAO app. I couldn't find the mic after all that time and this worked perfectly. Let me just say, I spent a lot of time and money tweaking and optimizing components in my audio chain but had not used any sort of room correction until getting this little guy. WOW what a night and day difference it makes. Highly recommend if you are in a similar situation!

Does the hob
Was a great fit for the one I lost. It’s has a long enough cord for you to position for best fit for surround.

OEM replacement part, good quality
This took about 4 days to arrive, and I was quite happy to see it. I plugged it in and quickly ran thru the configuration on my receiver. It works like it should and the cord is nice and long so you can place it in a spot that makes sense. I have also used it as an external microphone for my webcam, it wasn't the best for that, but it worked in a pinch.

Yamaha OEM Part #: WN649600 A/V ReceiverAudio Optimizer Mic.Works Windwes
A few years ago I accidentally trashed the original Audio Optimizer Microphone for my Yamaha RX-V1400 A/V Receiver when I moved from California to Oregon. After my move, I unpacked my A/V gear and set it up om my new apartment. I have been using the Manual setup menu to adjust the tone, balance and over-all sound of the system: it sounded good, but, not great. I recently purchased this OEM Audio Optimizer to replace the one I accidentally trashed.I hooked the new Audio Optimizer Mic to my Yamaha RX-V1400 A/V Receiver and placed the mic on a camera tripod which i had placed on my Sofa where I usually sit to watch TV and Videos on my Home Theater System. I the ran the Auto Setup program. Results: everything sounds clearer, Speaker levels are perfectly balanced and the Audio from my Yamaha RX-V1400 A/V Receiver sounds really great (again)! It has not sounded this good since I left California. in spite of the fact I had to leave mt 12" Powered Sub, Center Channel and my custom build main speakers in storage because they would not fit the space I had in my Studio Apartment. (I am using my Acoustic Research AR-622, 3-piece Satellite/Subwoofer Speaker setup I had on my Desktop PC System & No Center Channel (commonly referred to as a 4.1 Surround Sound System).Aside from a few days shipping delay due to bad Weather, I am very satisfied with the product.

OEM YAPO Mic
As other buyers have stated, the YAPO mic makes the auto setting of your entertainment speakers peak settings very easy and accurate if you are not an expert with the manual setting manipulation. The original mic that came with the unit got set aside before I realized what it was used for, and with ceiling speakers installed ready to go the sound was off enough to sound unbalanced and without the richness. Once the new OEM mic arrived, I had peak performance in less than 5 minutes. You will need to read through the YAPO procedure a time or two, and then go through the process if you have not done it before. I have found few functions of the Yamaha system hard to understand, but nothing that time and patience has not resolved.
