Bring on the heat. It works!
I bought this for my husband who suffers from pain caused by Type 2 Diabetic Neuropathy and Multiple Myeloma. He's tried it all, but this is working for him. It's has just enough heat to reach the pain, but is not unbearable. We're both happy that there's no smell. It gives him a much longer time of pain relief. We ordered a second for his son who was a high school and college baseball catcher and now walks on concrete floors and asphalt car lots everyday. Baseball knees and ankle pain is a by-product of the love of the game. This was salve was recommended by a high school football coach. Glad he shared it!!

Use this if you need hard core relieve
This product will be spicy on your sore muscles. I have used this for 30 plus years. Please use a rubber glove to apply the ointment- if you touch body parts with the product it will not feel good. The plus benefits are great! I will use this before a run/ride!

Think well before buying this product!
This is COLD rather than hot. Not even close. I still have their Atomic Balm, which has been staying hot 20 years after I bought it. This rub has no effect at all. I wonder what happened to Atomic Balm now, so I might think twice to buy that one as well. Interesting to know how does the manufacturer checks on their product they so beautifully advertise. Oh, and I have contacted the seller quite some time ago. Guess what: no answer. I don’t think they know how to respond. Think well before buying.

Step up to something that actually works
If you're like me and find yourself wasting money on the typical OTC topical liniments with little or no relief, you need to step up to something that actually works. Red Hot Ointment takes a bit more rubbing to get it under the skin. It will stain clothing if you leave an obvious residue on the skin. However, it is worth the added expense to buy a box of rubber gloves for applications. They will keep you from getting this in your eyes if you don't wash your hands thoroughly. It really works best as a warmup application before you stretch or workout. It heats up with your body activity and sustains an extended burn or glow when you cover the treated area with a t-shirt or sweater. Red Hot Ointment has 0.050% Capsaicin, has no odor which is good if you're going to be around other people. I use both the Red Hot Ointment and the Atomic Balm. The ointment sustains heat longer once it's activated. The balm has 12.5% methyl salicylate and 0.025% capsaicin. It has the typical menthol aroma, heats up a little quicker, and I like it for working out because I don't mind the odor, particularly, when I expect to shower afterwards.Neither of these products are for the sensitive types. If you played high school sports you've probably heard of the atomic balm to the jockstrap trick that left a lasting impression on underclassmen. Hurts to even think about it! I never did this or had it done to me. Honest! Just my cautionary note to use it responsibly. At age 66, I really think this is the best stuff on the market for sore aching muscles. It's a little pricy but worth the money when you get these results. I would definitely recommend this product.

Product not as remembered
My husband remembers using this product in high school and raved about it. Unfortunately it does not appear to be the same formulation as he remembers. Doesn't have much 'heat' to it, and did not relieve pain even though was used prior to workout as instructed. Better to just use Icy Hot or something similar rather than this expensive product.
