Perfect and challenging
Hong Kong was definitely difficult but one of my favorites. Once you get by the identical piece water section, it's fine. The skyline outcome is amazing and that's what I look for in these puzzles .

Good, But Flawed
This is a lovely and ambitious puzzle; given what they were trying to accomplish, I don't wish to be too hard on them, but there is something about it that considerably lowered my overall experience: the water portion of the puzzle was ridiculously hard. As others have noted, the water pieces are so close in shape, but so subtle in different shades of blue, it becomes some sort of Sysiphean challenge to put them in the right configuration (after weary hours over several days, I finally just pushed a few of them in as best I could, not wanting to waste further hours of my life that I'll never get back.) The harbor is of course the main geographical factor in Hong Kong's situation, but I wager that most of us will buy the puzzle for the buildings, not for the joy of trying to decipher between 15 hues of the same shade of blue.) Also, since I have a connection to HK, the following items nagged me, although it won't ruin anyone's experience if you haven't been to HK: 1) The 1915 layer had the modern HK flag. In 1915, the flag incorporated the Union Jack; 2) Some of the buildings were seriously out-of-scale: among others, The Centre (a notable building) is considerably under-sized, in reality, its roof-line is the 4th highest; in the puzzle, it appears to be in the 700-foot range. Also 1 International Finance Centre (689 feet) is scaled as the 3rd-tallest building (in reality, it's the 38th.) These criticisms may be fan-boy stuff, but they do affect the accuracy of the sky-line, if you're into this sort of thing. Given how unpleasant the water portion of the puzzle was, I'm not sure that I can recommend it.

overly challenging 4D Cityscape Hong Kong puzzle
My 11 year old son is very much into cities, geography, bridges and puzzles. He started with the NYC 4D cityscape puzzle at the beginning of the summer and it was challenging and fun to complete. The Hong Kong puzzle is much more difficult because it includes the hills of Hong Kong by doubling up the puzzle pieces. It's almost too difficult to be fun. The details of the "cheat sheet" are so small that it's almost impossible for me to help my son without feeling cross-eyed! It would have been helpful to have a level of difficulty rating for this puzzle. My son hasn't touched it in over a week because he is so frustrated with trying to complete it. Interesting, lots of detail and a good educational puzzle...just too difficult to be enjoyable. 4D cityscape puzzles are cool though, so give one of them a try.

Becomes tedious
It's a great idea for a puzzle. It could be fun an educational at the same time. However, all of the non-edge pieces are the same shape. Everything comes to a complete standstill once you get to the water in any model. You have to go piece by piece in each slot to find the right piece. 100 pieces took a month to do since it became irritating instead of fun and I'd set it aside.Unless they change this and create a variety of shapes I won't buy another of these puzzles.I threw it away at the beginning of the 2nd stage. The paper and foam on several pieces came apart. I've completed 1,000 piece puzzles that each piece was in the shape of a salamander that wasn't as annoying as this one. This puzzle needs to be completely reworked. Not worth the expensive price.

OMG This Is So Much Harder Than It Looks
My 28 year old boyfriend and I (29 years old) bought this puzzle because we love doing puzzles together and thought this one looked really cool. We got it in the mail and opened it up and DANG there are SOO many pieces. And the problem is all the pieces are the same shape. THE SAME SHAPE!! Do you know how hard it is to do a like 1000 piece puzzle with all the pieces exactly the same???? It's pretty much impossible unless you have the patience of a monk. Shoot. We tried it once and couldn't get anywhere. I really wish I could return it. Waste of money.
