I love Robbie Fulks, and I was charmed to hear a couple of clips of these Michael Jackson covers online, so I bought the CD. It's a little uneven, but when things work, they are great. "Back to Indiana" and "Black or White" are examples where Fulks has retained the pop sound but used his wonderful voice and ear for mixing genres to do something special. Even my teenage kids, who find Fulks much too twangy, have bopped around the kitchen when some of these songs have been on the CD player.

I hope this album reaches a wide audience. It grows better with each listen. I love what Robbie has done with these Michael Jackson, Jackson 5 songs.

Inconsistent compilation quality-wise.

great album if you are Robbie fan, if unfamilar with his work,, dig deeper, you'll find some gems

I love Robbie's music - his country, his alt-country, his bluegrass, his rock, his power-pop. In country music, it's George Jones, Hank Williams, and Robbie. I have him ahead of Walyon, Willie, Cash, Merle, and lots of other giants; that is how much I love his voice, his musicality, his unmatched songwriting.Listening to this album, I'm enjoying it because it's Robbie. Smart arrangements that are proper tributes to MJ, not an attempt to copy MJ. It's nice to hear these great songs in a new texture.Having said that, for decades I've noted the futility of anyone covering a Beatles song - ultimately, it's gonna fall short (unless, oddly enough, you are Joe Cocker).And that's the issue here - as much as I love Robbie, MJ's voice was perfect for these songs, and once you get past the Jackson Five, Quincy Jones gave these tunes the perfect production. So this LP mostly makes me long to hear the originals.Hats off to Robbie for this ambitious attempt, but it's the one album I don't own. Still, it earns 3 stars and would be a welcome addition to the collection of true fans.
