Hape Alphabet Abacus, L: 10, W: 4.7, H: 12.6 inch

This has been the most beneficial alphabet toy we have. I put this on the table during breakfast and we "talk about the letters."I wanted something that I could put up in front of her and point to each letter as I sang the alphabet, and this is great. Compared to other alphabet block toys, it's interactive since you can spin the blocks, yet you can't lose any letters and they are always nicely organized in order.With this toy, I feel that we are making much more progress learning the alphabet than with any other toy / book / method.The quality is good and I like that it is made of wood, not plastic. The size is not huge, but I think it's big enough to show everything but small enough to be mobile and fit away nicely, as well.The only thing I'm not crazy about is the numbers at the bottom. I don't think the format helps my child learn. I think perhaps colors would have been a better theme for this section rather than numbers. However, the benefit from the alphabet section outweighs this.We like this product so much, that I plan to give it to others for a first or second birthday present.

With this being baby number 4 for me I have learned my lesson about getting flash cards when I came time to learn the alphabet and numbers. You always end up losing one or two cards rendering the entire deck useless. That is what led me to look for an alternative, something I didn’t have to worry about losing. This was the perfect solution for us. Not only does it provide the alphabet in fun colors, but it has numbers 1-10 and also provides sight words on the other side of each block. Even though my baby is very young, one is never too young to start learning the ABC’s. Additionally, the quality was amazing! It is build to last and is very sturdy and solid, which I really like because that means it will survive when she starts throwing stuff around.

I purchased this for our 2 year old grandson, as he's fascinated with numbers and the alphabet. As soon as we gave it to him, he started using it. He loves spinning the tiles, and matching the letters and pictures. This is one of those learning toys that keeps a young child interested for a long period of time. It's very helpful in teaching a child the letters of the alphabet, as the corresponding pictures reinforce the learning process.Although it makes no difference to a child, I like the fact that this item is self contained. I've purchased so many toys and learning tools that come with dozens, or hundreds of parts. While great in their own regard, it's very difficult not to lose key pieces, or to find them scattered all over the house. With this item, everything stays in one place, making cleaning up a non factor.This alphabet abacus is well made and designed to last. You can't go wrong with this excellent product.

This is a nice wooden learning toy that can help supplement all the ways you're teaching your little one(s).Not only does it have the alphabet and illustrations, but it has the numbers from 1-10 along with their spelled out words.It's a great toy that helps little ones learn letters, numbers, and is a great tactile experience.The only knock is that it's wood and it can fall onto or they can fall onto it. So just be careful!

A cute product and well made, however, my 2 year old was unimpressed and has never really played with this. We got it for him for Christmas and he still isn't into this at all. Although the low stars are not for the product itself or the quality.

I can't think of a time that we've been disappointed with a Hape toy, and this one is no exception. The colors are bright, the construction is solid, and our little guy (about 2 years old now) loves to spin the tiles.Of course, we like the educational value, too. There are a lot of alphabet toys out there, but what we love most about this one is that it's all contained--no blocks and items scattered around the house. It's pretty transportable too, from room to room, and we've even traveled with it.A good way to work on ABCs and have fun at the same time--and keep things fairly neat in the process. That's rare!

Love the quality of the hape toys. My granddaughter loves playing with this. Lightweight, yet sturdy. She can carry it around.

I really like this abacus. It is well made, colorful and traditional. Kids need some toys that don't require batteries. I got this for my daughter's second bday. She is very interested in the alphabet, so I thought this would be perfect. She likes it, although with her bday being a week before Christmas, this kind of got overpowered by all the battery operated toys she got from gma. I think it's great though, and it's a great value. I'm sure she will take more interest in it soon enough when batteries start dying.

I was searching and searching for an engaging alphabet tool from a reputable company to have in my 8 month old play space that is safe for his age (not loose small pieces)...I like the idea of having basic learning resources visible and handy for us to play with at any time as he grows! This is a well-built alphabet abacus and all of the pieces are firmly secured. The alphabet pieces are great quality and as advertised, no funky printing as I read in past reviews.Currently, my baby loves spinning the pieces and it’s fun for he and I spend time together learning about letters! He does frequently tip it over, but that’s okay...what baby doesn’t love to do that?!I also love that Hape as a company is focused on sustainability, safety, longevity/quality, and “has strategically considered surface treatment, energy consumption, and packaging options to minimize environmental impact and maximize efficiency.”I can see us playing with this for a long time and even saving it for generations to come!

Lo recomiendo ampliamente, esta super padre los dibujos bien hechos el material excelente y mi bebe se entretiene mucho. Una buena inversión.

At first was surprised at the smallish size of this but then when comparing it to the $10 that I paid, it was an extremely great buy and also a great size for a toddler to carry around without it being bulky!
