Organic Japanese Sencha - First Harvest Saemidori Cultivar 100g (3.5oz) bag - Loose Leaf Green Tea

As I first time buyer of Sencha tea, I finally decided to try it out. I have been drinking regular green tea for years and found Sencha tea to be very expensive. I even got a traditional Japanese tea pot and little tea cups, just to make it into a little ceremony and start a tradition. Not for everyday, but once a week as a special treat. Very much liked my first cup, smooth tasting and interesting after tones. Much more nuanced than regular green tea. Look forward to more tastings with friends. Reasonably priced compared to other Sencha teas. Happy with it !

First, you can look me up--I very, very rarely write reviews of anything. However, this company asked purchasers (extremely politely I should add) if they might write a review, given that 99% of people who buy their tea don't bother to do so. Because this company is really worth supporting, and I've been thinking about writing for months, I finally bit the bullet and actually sat down to do so. This is the best sencha I can remember having at anything close to this price. About a million lifetimes ago I was a professional cook in New York at a restaurant specializing in Japanese food, and I have continued to cook this way for my family over the decades since. So I know something about sencha. I won't say I've never had better, but when I have, it was at crazy, rarified prices. I don't even bother any more as I really don't need tea to taste better than this. If you love sencha, do yourself a favor and just try it. You can complain to me personally if you feel any differently :-)

This loose leaf green tea is a very high quality product and makes a fabulous cup of tea. I start every morning with my cup of green tea and when I ordered this product I found out what I had been missing. Been drinking green tea for 30 years. This is good stuff. I like the small piece of origami washi paper included which each purchase -- nice touch.

Pleasant tasting tea. Also JAS certified. Color is vibrant deep green, and taste really smooth. Definitely the best way to drink tea IMO.
