Melissa & Doug Wooden Backgammon & Checkers

I wanted a backgammon set and as a woman who loves toys I was delighted to stumble on the M&D set. It's really cute and well-made. It can be hung on the wall, although we haven't done that yet. It doesn't have the "wall" or whatever it is called where a traditional box opens and you put the pieces you send there by landing on them. But it's no biggie. If you like playful design, I think you'll enjoy having this board.

Normally a big fan of Melissa and Doug but this game falls far short of their normally high standards. The pieces look nice but do not interlock when stacked as classic plastic checkers do. So the kings easily fall apart. Then the wall mounting bracket is way bigger than necessary and wouldn’t even mount in my dry wall. I ditched their mounting bracket and screw and used my own screw instead. Finally the grooves in the board to mount it are not deep enough so I had to leave the mounting plate loose by a couple millimeters so that it would fit. Bottom line is sloppy execution that would have been caught by a couple rounds of user testing.

I gave this combo board to my 8yr old grandson for Christmas. Great quality and size for him. Easy to move pieces on board. Very happy with purchase and would highly recommend.

I bought it for my 7-year-old daughter for her Christmas gift. Just one more addition to family board games. We love it for the design. It is not like the traditional backgammon in a carrying box. The color is fun for the kids. We spent a lot of time playing the game during holiday. Great value to have it double-sided so you get to play backgammon and checkers.

The checkers are nice and solid as is the board, which has been repeatedly walked on by our two-year old without damage. We have used this daily during the pandemic and it has held up well. Definitely worth the money.

We have a beach themed room and this was perfect. I needed a better gme set and they are so expensive! we tired of the fold up with small pieces and sticking to the fabric.This is pretty on the table and fantastic for play - just slide across!

I was so excited to get my new backgammon set. When I opened it, it was missing some of the wooden playing pieces. I'll have to return it.

Very visually appealing. Not bad for the price. Would be nice if it had slots for the checkers on the backgammon board but it's not a big deal.
