I will do my best to give this a proper review here but only used the unit once prior to returning it because it was clear it wasn't going to work for me. I've been a fan of immersion brewing since the Clever dripper debuted on the market a while ago. I like a strong cup of coffee and I buy the good stuff so don't want to throw money away using copious amounts if I can help it. The immersion method has met both needs but I have yet to find one that is also durable. We've gone through several Clever's (always crack and eventually leak) and Bonavita's (problem with the design of the lever) so when I saw this unit I thought it might be the answer. I have a siphon brewer made by Yama that I love but reserve more for weekend/occasional use. The Silverton unit appears to be well crafted and high quality but the upper glass cone is small - maybe holds ten ounces. In order to make 4 - 6 cups as advertised you would have to keep filling the upper cone with water and grounds multiple times. The glass carafe holds quite a bit more than the upper unit but since it is constructed of thin walled glass, the coffee cools very quickly. By the time you have produced a pot of coffee you've eaten up quite a bit of time and coffee and the result is a tepid brew. I had assumed that the capacity was the same as some of the other Yama Silverton units listed here (stated to be 18 oz) which would be the same as the Clever and Bonavita but perhaps that is for the lower unit only? The other thing to consider is that unit is difficult to clean and the simple act of taking it apart can be a little nerve wracking. Remember to hold the upper glass cone tightly as you loosen the screw that holds it in place. With the screw fully tightened it is still a little loose (and it needs to be otherwise the glass would break) but once the screw has been loosened fully there is absolutely nothing holding that upper cone in place. Not a big problem as long as you remember to hold it though. I wish it had worked for me because it does seem like a nice unit but I'll keep looking.

I really love this, it's so beautiful and simple
I really love this, it's so beautiful and simple, however... I hate that the valve is metal, and I'm really not sure what kind because it doesn't say anywhere. I am certain that the metal valve is causing a funky bitter taste to my coffee. Wish there was a way to replace it with glass, or ceramic/porcelain coated steel instead. I will be searching for a part like that.

Delicious Cold Brew
I bought it for cold extraction of coffee. it is cheaper than other models and smaller. It comes with three filters for the coffee: a stainless steel cone with many tiny holes, a fine mesh attached inside the cone in a oblique direction and a ceramic filter. At the end what I got was a clear, concentrated coffee, delicious (no problem with my gastritis and reflux), The aspect of the coffee reminded me the one I get with the Chemex using paper filters. By the way, it comes with a few rounded paper filters (maybe thinner than those of Chemex), but these are not for the coffee, you put these on top the coffee to get an even distribution of water when making cold brew, these are reusable a few more times, just wash them with water and ready to use. When these are gone I will buy cheaper ones, maybe even those for Aeropress will fit OK (the original sold by Yama are expensive)Seems to me you get many coffee makers in one (dripper, cold extraction, Chemex, Aeropress)

More of a showpiece than a functional kitchen appliance.
More of a show piece, it does work and makes a GREAT tasting cup of cold brew. Good luck with cleaning, disassembling, and reassembling though. Once the plastic/rubber collar comes out good luck with getting it back together. I sent mine back.

This is a great product that always draws attention
This is a great product that always draws attention. We use it to brew infused green tea. Only complaint is that the spigot valve does not seal completely and the unit drips slowly letting the brewing empty slowly rather than steep till I want to empty it.
