A Lite Too Bright

A journey worth taking
The book started a little slow for me but it gradually picked up and once the beginning of, let’s call it “the journey”, began, I could hardly put it down! This story is full of twists and turns and poetry and symbolism. It’s got adventure and love, fear and sadness. I loved how the author told several stories at once, weaving them together to get to the book’s final moments, which were wholly unexpected, at least for me.The characters are well-written and interesting. The author provides necessary details about each one of them but keeps them just mysterious enough to make you want to know more. Which is why you keep turning the pages!I ached for the story’s heroes and the journeys they were on. The story evokes strong emotions, especially when things started falling into place, and I honestly couldn’t figure out how things were going to end until they were ending.I have no idea how this book is classified as far as genres go but it’s different from what I typically read. There’s a little YA in there, some suspense, a hint of thriller, and some good old fashioned mystery. So if you like any of those things, I think you’ll enjoy it.

How did he even write something this good????
This book is so amazing that I read it twice in four days and went out to get a tattoo for the book right after that. It's the kind of book that when you're not reading it, you're constantly thinking about it; it even crept into my dreams one night, with me imagining how the book was going to continue. Sam dives into the minds of the characters, exposing their innermost thoughts. You feel as in you are in the characters' place, you feel as though you are apart of the journey and the chase. Page by page, I was blown away by the way Sam is able to put sentences together to beautifully and the way he comes up with the breathtaking moments that occur in this book. This book is the kind of book that I know will stick in my mind for years to come. It's the kind of book you want to share, like giving it to your kid on their 13th birthday, and have them give it to their kid. Do yourself a favor and read this book. Find your great purpose.

Fine
I found this book on a list of "sad books," and a lot of the reviews said this was their favorite book so I was really hopeful. The audio/voice was great I just found it to be really boring. Unless you are a big fan of social justice, protesting and historical American events related to that...you might find this boring as well. The cover art is just gorgeous though.

I loved this book
I loved this book, towards the end it was impossible to put down, I kept reading it while I was at work. It doesn’t surprise me that this book is beautifully written, Sam is a fantastic wordsmith. I look forward to reading more from Sam in the future.

Brillant, detailed and entralling story & easy read
This book was fantastic. A quick read with an entralling story that is smart, complex and it drove me to re-read certain sections just to make sure I soaked up all the details. Recommeded for high school and up. Can’t be too old for a great story.

Disappointed
It was not what I expected.. I bought it for my 15 year old nephew before I read it. (Based on a review that said it was good for young adults.. I disagree.. I kept wanting to put it down but than something would pique my interest. On the whole, very disappointed.

Best read in over a year!
Fantastic story of family and the power of love - with a mystery driving the action. I loved how the themes of history and memory wove through the novel. Buying one for everyone I know!
