GREAT PUURCHASE
I purchased the ergo auto pet feeder in Jan 2015, it arrived on time with all parts and in working order. My dog has been using it no for a year and four months with now issues what so ever. Has been a life saver since I have a daily changing work schedule, which now does not conflict with my dogs feeding times any longer. I chose to set the auto timer for 3 diffrent times, 6am 12pm and 6pm schedule feeding, my dog has been happy with the feeder she knows when to expect her food , its been very convenient so that makes me a happy owner. One drawback is that the auto timer is not easy to set up, but when you have it set, it works as it should. thanks DLK

Large pet feeder for large dog
We have had our feeder awhile and it has worked consistently. My husband removed the cover cap where the food comes out to allow a better flow of food since we use large pellet food. Our dog loves it and can hear it start dispensing no matter where he is. He loves to run up to it and eat every bite as it comes out. We liked this feeder so much, we bought the small model for our cat and she loves hers. We did raise the dog feeder about 8 inches off the ground to make it more convenient for our dog and put two blocks next to it for stability because he gets so excited when it's time to eat. The timer which must be set is somewhat complicated, but the directions are very clear. It is great to know if we leave for a few hours that puppy will be fed on time and not have to wait on us.Highly recommend this product.

Poor mechanical design
We have had this unit for over a yr. The stirring arm (keeps the throat full of food) broke after one month. I took it out and now we just make sure the large bin is absolutely full before we leave.2 months later the pin that confirms the bin has been installed properly (before allowing the feeder to feed) torn the plastic base. You need to take the bin off every month or so to clean it but that action causes the steel locator pin to dig into the plastic base and after 6-7 time, the plastic breaks. I had to disasssemble the entire unit and by-pass this switch. One of our 3 cats (I think he is actually a small pig with fur) has found that if he sticks his paw in the feed output opening and bats the feed auger he can cause the food in the auger to fall out. Unfortunately for the other 2 cats, when the auger feeds the next time, most of the feed cycle is required to refill the auger tunnel so only a liitle food ends up in the dish. I taped the lid covering the feed output which pervents pig cat from sticking his paw in but he now has learned he can just bat the cover and food will vibrate its way out. Most people would have thrown this thing away after 3 months but I found it a technical challenge (retired engineer ;>).The timer is a separate of the shelf unit which has a battery backup (a must have)and a lot of flexibilty in feed cycles but it is tedious to program.I am in the process of replacing this feeder because I worry it will break again when we are on vacation.

Rating downgraded. Not rat-proof. BUT possible to make it Smart!
This is great if you can put this near an outlet. The cord restricts you from putting this thing anywhere you want, but it works. The swivel turning thing inside makes sure that the dog food doesn't get stuck in the unit. That's a great feature. Another wonderful thing is that the rats have not chewed through this plastic yet. I've been using this for nearly a year. My Petsmart plastic auto feeder (another brand) was made of a softer plastic and the rats figured out that they can access the food by chewing through the plastic. This hasn't happened with this feeder.2017 Update. The rats have eaten through the plastic. I wish they offered this in aluminum with glass window. See photo. Rating adjusted from 5 stars to 2. Too bad there isn't a truly perfect feeder out there.Okay. So I'm now on my second unit . I put a copper netting sleeve on the machine. See photo. It MIGHT keep the rats from chewing it. I'm considering building an aluminum shield in the near future. The timer is really cumbersome, so I bought a Smart switch to automate it. The smart switch works without the included timer. See photos. I think I deserve at the minimum a partial refund or discount for all this hassle. I'd bump up the rating for customer service for it.

Besides that I like it and the timer is easy to set
After reading some of the reviews I also propped open the door (used a small bungee) so the food will come out faster otherwise it takes too long to get the food out.Besides that I like it and the timer is easy to set.
