My son collects everything. He collects hats and this top hat is now my favorite. Very sturdy. Well made. Easy to store and so much fun. I highly recommend this hat. It goes well with tuxedo T-shirts....which my son also collects. He has Autism and we go with the flow and collect fun things. This hat is FUN!!

First one ended up breaking on the inside, however seller sent a replacement. I love the look and I appreciate them what they did.

For $15 I didn't expect much. However this hat is perfect!!! I need a top hat to complete my Halloween costume. I wanted a collapsible one so it could be stored afterwards. This hat is sturdy and collapses well. It has a nice elastic rim inside to allow it to fit confortably on many different head sizes. I didn't buy it for warmth, but it would probably do just fine in colder weather. The review questions as about "thickness" and "sheerness". This isn't sheer at all. It does have a good level of thickness the top of the hat and brim are solid enough to knock on. The sides have an collapsible frame supportive enough to keep the top hat shape while being comfortable for costume wear. I wouldn't wear this daily, it's not meant for that.

It is a good quality hat but the fabric had holes.

I had ordered this hat because my theater company was doing a production of Sweet Charity and a hat that pops open was required for the show. The hat I received is a beautiful hat made of velvet with a silk ribbon trim. It has a wide inner spandex band that holds the hat on tightly. It is a great hat, unfortunately it does not POP like the hat in the play is supposed to. It does fold down into a flat hat but it took me about five minutes to figure out how to unfold it and make it into a top hat. At first I thought it was broken, but once i figured out how to unfold it, it turned into a beautiful top hat. It is very sturdy, but the hat is too heavy and the brim not sturdy enough for a dance hat, so it is not useful for our show. Because the hat was so beautiful I decided to keep it anyway as we will probably use it in a future production.

Do not buy this - it broke the second time I popped it open. I need this for a dance to "If They Could See Me Now", the hat trick, opening up and closing it is essential and this is my second purchased hat that poorly made and broke within the first 10 minutes of use. Thank goodness Amazon will refund money spend on these low quality products.

FIRST - This is not the pop-open silk hat where you smack it in your palm and the hat pops open. It isn't made to do that. It does fold for storage or easy transportation but takes a minute to open.However, it is covered in a thick velour fabric with a satin ribbon around it and for a costume looks very high end. The diameter is pretty big and it's held on using a wide elastic hat band that runs around the interior. Makes for a good fit regardless of head size. Not for every day use but perfect for my costume.
