Love the aeration control capability!
This version of the Aervana costs a bit more than the cheaper versions, but I think the ability to control / experiment with the aeration level is well worth it. The unit looks great and is very stylish; friends are definitely impressed when they see it. They are amazed when I ask them if they have a decanted time preference :)In my opinion, the aeration control definitely has an impact on the fullness and taste of the wine. And yes, there are times where I have had to reduce the aeration after sampling a bottle. You need a bold red for the Max setting.I like the metal telescopic "straw" and feel it is more durable than cheaper competitors.Clean-up is a breeze.1. Pull the "straw" above the wine level in the bottle and dispense the remaining wine in the unit into a glass2. Transport the unit to the sink (I hold it over my wine glass in case of any drips)3. Fill a vessel with some water (empty wine bottle or just a glass) and inert the "straw"4. Activate the Aervana and run it until clear water is exiting the unit5. Remove the Straw from the water, and run the Aervana until no water comes out6. Remove the Straw from the Aervana and rinse.7. Dry the straw and storeSounds like a lot of steps, but it's easy and takes about 30 seconds.I think that the Aervana is a good selection for wine buffs and will enhance their enjoyment. I am enjoying my unit and do not regret the purchase at all.

Awesome tool for any wine enthusiast or wine drinker
Great product. We’ve had a few aerators before and this is very good. Telescopic attachment helps with all bottle sizes and adjustable setting is nice. I’m no Som but can tell the difference a bit.If you’re not used to mechanical aerators, seeing a ton of bubbles and so forth is disconcerting at first but they go away quickly and it’s just the air being forced through. The caddie is a nice addition too, definitely keeps it more neatly on the counter. Cleaning is easy, just stick it with the attachment in water and run through. We actually just use a little of the next wine (if moving to second bottle, which happens often) so that the water doesn’t impair the taste. A quick run through of the new wine and then chucking that out is way better than changing chemical composition with water each time.

Tried not to want to keep this.....
I have read all of the good and bad reviews and was a bit skeptical since I already have a wine aerator and wondered if this was any better than the one that I was replacing. I figured I would give it a try and said I would use it as much as possible during the return window. Well, after using this for about 3 weeks now I have to say that I am impressed. I did a taste test - same bottle of wine but one with no aeration at all. One with my current aerator and then one with this aervana. I was surprised that it tasted so much better after aeration with aervana, however it seems that it's only that way for the first few sips and then it starts to taste like the one that I aerated with my current aerator. The amount of bubbles was crazy compared to my current aerator. And yes, I did aerate based on the type of wine. A malbec is the one I tested with so I didn't have to turn it up too much. All in all, I would buy it again. It does drip a tiny bit so I just put a paper towel under the spigot. No more spilling with a hand held aerator! We'll see how long this thing lasts....

Don't let the high price fool you. Junk.
This is the third wine aerator pump I've purchased. The first one was junk and lasted a week. The second one I got was NutriChef PSLWPMP50. It has worked like a champ for almost two years. So, why did I buy this one if I am so happy with the Nutrichef? I had three reasons:1) The matte metallic titanium finish looks very fancy, and higher-end than Nutrichef.2) There is a dial to select the level of aeration. This is sort of theoretical benefit for me as we mainly drink strong Cabs and the dial is always set to 11. But theoretically, it is a good feature3) There is a built-in sieve to catch the sediment. So why do I not like it. Let's start with the misdemeanors:1) Unlike Nutrichef, the pipe inside the bottle is rigid. This means, that if you want to set it up straight, the pipe sits at the top of the the bulb that exists in all Cab bottles, and there is always wine left in the bottle.2) This often leaked and dripped on the table, which the Nutrichef never does. This happened more often if the device was tilted at all to get the wide sieve in the end of the pipe around the bulb in the bottle. Then let's move to more egregious crimes:1) One evening, there was surprisingly half a bottle left in the end of the evening. The bottle was left on the kitchen counter. Aervana had opted to relieve itself in the middle of the night on the kitchen counter and floor without any human interaction.2) After this event, Aervana was put in the penalty box for a few weeks. When it was taken out of the penalty box, it no longer worked. It was completely dead. I guess something had shorted which caused the malfunction and the death. So, it looks great and could theoretically be a good product, but the rigid pipe is a design flaw to begin with, and I either got unlucky or the quality is bad. Returning this one, and continuing to use my Nutrichef.
