Vic Bearcroft's Pastel Velour Pad - Regular Black and Dark Grey (250mm x 350mm)

It had a discoloration mark running from top to bottom on every page

This velour paper is great for pastel painting when you want the color to simply stick without a lot of blending. The nap of the paper holds the pastel very well. It takes some planning to build layers, but the effect is beautiful

I have loved working on this paper! It's my first time trying this type of surface, and even though it's a bit pricey, this little pad has been worth it even for starting out and practicing. However, if I want to make something formally where I have to have exact measurements and clean edges, it's kind of tough. I either have to crop it pretty significantly, or end up with a rough edge. I think the spine of the pad is the only problem, because the paper is glued in so strongly, so maybe it just needs to all be separated and contained another way, or less glue should be used. It's very hard to tear a single sheet out cleanly. Even an xacto knife is iffy, because you need to allow for some excess space to be cut off, and cutting inside the pad risks cutting damage to the other pages. (I don't know of any tricks...I'd love some advice if it's just user-error!) :) Overall, I'm really glad I got it, especially in this size, and will most likely purchase again.

excellent paper for any type of soft coloured pencil or pastel work. Pricey for paper, but will not find any less pricey, all of this high end paper is expensive

Love velour paper with chalk pastels! Wish it didn't take so long to get here.

great weight - takes layers very welltook longer than usual to arrive- but was glad when it did!

The best velour paper!It is like velvet.... but very steady. I would say that perhaps if venturing to this new style of paper that you know exactly what you want to draw... you only get about 6 black pages and the rest are grey.I would highly recommended for the Intermediate and Advanced artist!

Took a bit of getting used to this paper as I use pastelmat usually but the trick is fine layers and building up . I actually love this paper now . Creates really vibrant work . Would definitely recommend
