Balanced, Practical and Soulful
I am one of those skeptics when it comes to any preachy lifestyle. And I am also a yoga teacher. So I kind of *have* to somewhat practice Ayurveda (only slight exaggeration). Ali gave me the refresher I needed. Her approach is completely balanced, she isn't trying to convince anyone Ayurveda is going to save the world... though it may if we all were more in tune with ourselves? She gives a simple, nourishing picture of what our lives could look like when we understand our dosha and the rhythms of the world. Modern Ayurveda really inspired me to add more simple practices into my day to help center myself with my own being and with all other beings. High recommend this resource for newbies and yogis and skeptics, too :)

Best book I bought it 2019
I loved everything about this book; the layout, the accessibility, the easy to follow recipes. I’ve bought this for a handful of my friends and family and everyone has enjoyed it and found value within it. The dosha quiz was fun and helped me understand why some “healthy” foods I was eating weren’t actually healthy for MY body.

Reassuring but confusing
Like many Ayurvedic books that say they are simple, this book piles on the recommendations and theories so much that it ends up just as confusing as any other. Knowing your dosha doesn’t help much, since there are imbalances and seasons and times of day and other factors to consider as well. It just ends up so overwhelming as to be inaccessible, which is the opposite of what it purports to be. One thing I did like however was the reassuring tone, emphasizing that we don’t need to follow the lifestyle perfectly to get some of its benefits.

Very approachable for a newbie to Ayurveda
I love this book! For someone like me who is just starting to scratch the surface of the great ancient practices of a balanced life. It is easy to follow and once you know what your dosha is, you can go directly to the rituals and recipes that apply to you. Fantastic!
