Expensive but works
I was hesitant to try this due to it being crazy expensive for what it is, but I read the several studies out on this product or rather it's ingredient which all showed it to be beneficial, so I bit the bullet. I just placed a reorder on this... as this is one of the first supplements that I can visually see making a difference in the muscle tone and bulk in my 13 !! year old boxer! He had a spine injury in 2020 and we had to help him relearn how to use 3 of his legs - which we did but he has walked crooked ever since and less steady as well - ie: would lose balance when trying to lift leg to pee. The past couple of years I could see him losing muscle mass and strength in his rear legs as a normal sign of aging and perhaps more so due to the injury. Within a month of using this I could tell the loss had slowed or stopped, and halfway through my second container, I could see what appears to be a rebuilding of muscle in those rear legs. They no longer look like skinny little chicken quarters on a 90 pound dog, and those legs are slowly plumping back up and gaining strength again giving him the stamina to take longer walks around the yard and push himself through the doggie door without getting stuck half in and half out needing help to get the rest of the way in. I'm pleased with the product and its clear results. Vet will be surprised when I take him in for his blood test soon, to find that she won't have to help him get up off her slick floor. This time he can use his own steam.

I’m a convert!
My dog lost a lot of muscle in his back 2 legs from a back injury and i found this powder through a Reddit thread. Just bought our second bag and while it’s expensive, i could see a difference from the first 60 days with the first bag. His back leg muscles are getting bigger, and he’s started standing on his hind legs again briefly which he could not do before! So happy to help him regain some of the muscle he lost. He also can finally run fairly quickly again! Huge fan of this. I also refrigerate it and my dog loves the taste

Less expensive than surgery
My min pin is 16 years old. She was dragging her back legs. I took her to urgent care and they suggested expensive X-rays. I then took her to our vet and they suggested expensive MRI’s. I didn’t want to put her through all that and what would they be able to do for a senior pup? I don’t think a senior dog can go through any surgery easily. Somehow, I found this product. After 3 weeks, my Racine has noticeably improved. She is climbing stairs to the second floor and running in the house. Now that she feels stronger her whole attitude has changed and she’s happy. I thought I was going to have to put her to sleep. I am so grateful for this product and it’s much less expensive than surgery.

Jury's still out on this product... 3.5-4 Stars at this point...
** Jan. Update Cont. ** Raised to 4 stars for the incredible customer service we've received from MYOS. With their support, we are continuing the Fortetropin & hoping for quality of life improvement. We are not in the market for creating an immortal dog. Unfortunately, they just do not stay with us long enough. Our primary goal is comfort through the aging process, and mobility. We do not have a definitive diagnosis on what's causing the muscle loss in his legs (primarily back legs, and front legs but to a lesser degree). My gut tells me that this product provides significant support to dogs convalescing from surgery or illness - and I would encourage you to give this product a try! For chronic illness/disease - I think the most rational goal to aim for is comfort and slowing down decline. This is what we're hoping for, and I'll continue to update. Our thanks to MYOS for helping us continue w/this product & their great customer service.Tip: I've found it mixes best with canned food that has NO gravy or liquid. It has a course parmesan-cheese consistancy/texture, and mixes better with a "pate" style dog food. It has no flavor or aroma - and our dog has no sense that it's in his food (or else he'd turn his nose up at it). If your dog is on kibble - add warm water to the food to soften (plus dogs just like it, and hydration is so important) - then sprinkle on top. I've also taken a high flavor canned food (for fun, not part of his regular diet), combined a spoonful with the fortetropin, and created meatballs (when he was on a prescription food that was somewhat soupy).*January Update* - we were unsure of whether or not to keep going, but will continue with Fortetropin - and stay hopeful that we can see more significant improvement. I want to report that one important thing to note is that our dog has not declined since being on this product. Improvement, so far, as been slight. As we continue with Fortetropin, I plan to get our veterinarian involved to help document any changes at this point, and will share the results here. I see so many people reviewing this product with the same hope that we have - and I think sharing our results is so important. I continue to recommend that people at least try this product - as it could just be that certain conditions will respond better than others. Stay hopeful! :)Just completed our first container of this product. My 12 yr old collie has had declining muscle control in his back legs for the past few years that has come to a point where support (nutritional, medication, supplement, etc) is required. He has not been diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy at this point, and we suspect it has more to do with a spinal condition. That said, the atrophy is significant, especially surprising in his front legs (given they're providing much of the support for his body at this time). Pros: It didn't cause stomach upset, it was easy to administer/mix into food, and there could be a slight amount of increase in muscle mass, but it is VERY slight. Cons: Extremely expensive. I don't think it was a waste of time or money to try this - and I would encourage people to give it a go (it can't hurt). In our case, however, the improvement was not so notable that I am clamoring to buy the 2nd container. Still contemplating it at this stage. I will continue to update. I would rate it 3 1/2 stars at this point, but will change this rating if we see more noticeable improvement.

Great for maintenance
I have a 14 year old Standard Poodles. He’s been taking this daily for about me years now and still has impressive strength in his hind legs. He runs, spins and jumps still. My vet approves and tells me not to change anything.
