A really cheap and effective replacement for your official microsoft surface charger
**Contents** 1 x USB-C to Microsoft connector for the surface line I really do not seem to be having much luck with chargers at the moment as this is the 3rd one in my house for different products that have decided to break also just slightly past the warranty expiry date just to add insult to injury (not that most warranties cover chargers now but still) So yes... It's official I was in the market for a replacement charger for my Microsoft surface laptop 2 as my official one charges for all of 5 seconds and will power off and refuse to do anything after that and considering I use this laptop every day for a multitude of tasks I can be dealing with a flat battery. I headed to Microsofts store to see how much they wanted to rob me for a replacement charger and I simply refuse to pay that cost after selling a kidney to buy the surface laptop in the first place so I came here and had a scout around and saw some alternatives with honestly quite reasonable prices but that just makes me skeptical for some reason and the reviews were not to kind so instead I stumbled across this little nugget which was cheap and offered me a better solution as all of my USB hubs in my place are now PD high watt ones so I figured I would give it a shot and if it didn't work out I haven't lost much but if it did I've saved a fortune. This arrived fairly quick and my first impressions on it were it felt quite solid with a shiny feel coating on which is not the same as Microsoft's original version but then again the price does represent this so I wasn't really expecting that to be the case but so far it felt decent enough quality and the connector looked near perfect to Microsoft's version both ends of the connector feel strong and sturdy with no obvious signs of weakness that I can see. Once I plugged it into the PD hub I connected it to my surface laptop 2 which you can see in the pictures I was pleased to see that it does in fact have the same LED light indicator to show that is in fact charging as a different branded one I bought did not do this so I am happy to see that it is present here. So far I have been using this cable with the PD hub for just over a week and it seems to charge the laptop perfectly fine with no issues, I also managed to use this with a PD battery whilst at work and it charged fine with no noticeable issues. The cable length is also pretty long as seen in the pictures which are good if you're wired into s hub like I am most of the time which is always nice to see. Honestly, the only faults I can point out with this so far is that the packaging it comes in could use some prettying up as image is everything nowadays and the packaging this came in was just a simple white bag with no branding on it or anything (Yes I know it is petty to point this out but represent the brand right!) So in closing if you are in the market for a replacement Microsoft surface laptop 2 charger and you have type-c charging port this is a very cheap and effective replacement for your broken one and it actually works well, of course, it is still early days with this cable as of now but if anything changes in the coming weeks or I notice any faults or points worth mentioning I will, of course, update this review to reflect either the positive or negative findings.

Stopped working after 6 months...
Purchased this product in late November, it worked beautifully for 6 months, allowing me to charge my Surface Pro via USB-C, but then suddenly stopped working last night. The cable still looks new and it was only used occasionally as I already own a docking station and standard Microsoft charger. It was disappointing that it did not last longer.

Seems a little unstable but does seem to work
Im not sure if it is the cable or the power bank i have but it does not seem like a very stable connection. It does work but does not always register. I have another powerbank on the way so i will update further when that arrives

A godsend
Despite their widespread use, Surface devices don't seem to have a decent aftermarket market. So it was great to see this. Whilst a lot of laptops now charge via USB-C, I have always preferred a magnetic charger. So to be able to have one that plugs into a USB-C charger (and powerbank) means that I have a layer of portability that I never had before. I don't need to be so concerned about carrying a particular charger around, because I know I have this hand little thing.

Waste of money
When this cable arrived I couldn't even use it as it needs a usc connection. It doesn't work with a USB charger... Which meant paying more money for the connector. Definitely not worth the money.

It works!
Was a bit sceptical As I only like to use known or genuine cables. In times that UsB c is taking over and power banks supporting PD Charing I thought this would be handier then a car charger and for having a charger on travels. It’s held up for a week travelling in Bulgaria so far! ***Just want to update the review for the negative ones that are on here. Make sure your power bank can output the required power. You can’t just plug this into a usb c port and expect it to work. I’m using an anker 26800 and it works great.

Perfect for Surface Pro 4
Works great with my Surface Pro 4, and have had no issues thus far. However I would advise you need a pretty hefty USB-C power bank or plug. The Surface requires 65w which is substantially more than other devices, smaller surfaces may use less power. I purchased the UGREEN USB C Charger 65W to pair up with this and the combo are great for travelling.

Great product
Used it for charging Surface Pro 4 and Surface Go. Charges as quick as the Microsoft oem charger with a good PD charger, the choice of charger has to deliver at 3amps otherwise it won't work. I've also charger using a decent powerbank for the ultimate portability.
