I love the pen but I'd caution against buying it from Amazon! I had to return my pen because it was missing the crucial little metal o-ring between the pen body and the nib section that allows the cap to snap shut securely. There was residual ink in this pen (and not the Lamy blue the factory tests pens with), so obviously I received a pre-owned pen. Instead, I recommend buying this pen from a trust-worthy source such as Goulet Pen Company. This is what I ended up doing after returning the Amazon pen. They inspect pens before shipping them out.As to the pen itself, it is a dream to use. It's become my go-to sketch and writing pen, filled with DeAtramentis Document Black ink. This ink does not bleed with watercolors. The pen starts every time, and the feel on the paper is so smooth. Mine is an Extra Fine, but really not very fine. But when I want a finer line, I use the back side of the nib. It's a little more scratchy feeling, but gives me a finer line when I want it. It's a solidly-made pen and I feel I can take it anywhere, and I do!

Highly recommend, I bought this as a relatively inexpensive foray into gold nib pens. Materials and design are top notch, smooth writing, comfortable in the hand, decent ink capacity, durable enough to carry and use every day. Whether you are wearing a suit or jeans and a Polo it doesn't look out of place. I have a couple of dozen pens and this is easily one of my favorites in rotation.

I've never been impressed with the quality (or lack of there of) of LAMY fountain pens (the Safaris I have write scratch and lousy) but I thought I would try the 2000 because of all the rave reviews I read here. Ugly as sin but I thought I would give it go.It is in a cheap paper box by itself with nothing else inside of it. No pouch, No class. No converter.

I have a lot of fountain pens but this one was not enjoyable at all, Impressive quality and especially the piston smoothness and design overall but the nib has a tiny sweet spot that if you rotate while writing even slightly or miss will quickly get annoying. The size for me too small even posting the cap - makes it usable but never fit my hand well or was comfortable.No question this pen is a legend and I'm a big fan of Lamy, love the Imporiums, Dialog 3 and Safari but this one for me doesn't offer much of what I like most about fountain pens which is the feel of the pen while writing and the feedback, tactile input of the paper.Many will love it and do but if you like larger pens or tend to rotate when writing you might try one before buying.

Lamy never disappoints. As an avid fountain pen user I not only find the nib of this pen visually beautiful, it also writes fantastic. I write small so I ordered the extra fine. It is smooth, doesn’t ‘skip’ ink flow and does not ‘scratch’ (something extra fine nibs tend to do). For me, definitely a winner, love it!

The pen has a nice heft and solid feel in the hand. It is significantly heavier than resin body pens. There is a small clear section in the body that allows you to visually see when your ink level is low. The ink reservoir is large and lets me write for a week between refills even after writing a half dozen pages in my journal each day. Of course YMMV. The nib is non flexible and suited more to writing or cross hatching rather than variable weight lines for calligraphy. The nib also glides easily page. Only 2 characteristics prevent a 5 star rating: 1) the design is rather utilitarian I like a little more flair, but if you like clean lines and functionality you will be pleased, 2) the cap is friction fit and snaps in place rather than being threaded. I find when carrying in a "pen" loop in my messenger bag the heavy weight of the pen's body can cause it to slip free of its cap. Potentially this could create a mess, although to date I've recapped relatively quickly. All in all very nice product in the mid price range of fountain pens.

Writes well and looks classy. Love the unique method of filling well. Could not be more pleased. I’d like another version in dark blue or dark red.

Really well made, very comfortable to hold and write. Beautiful and modern pen. One of my favorite pens.
