My daughter is 8 and is just fitting into a girls size large/10 in most bottoms from Target, but can still wear a few 8s. The size chart for these said a medium was a size 10. The mediums would not go past her thighs, and the large would just barely button. The XL fit her well. I would say the medium is more like a 6 and the large like an 8.

Nice pants, but the large is a little big for us. I ordered that size based on reviews. I have a tall 8 year-old. She’s not skinny or fat, but she has a larger waist than hips.For these pants, the good news is that there are drawstrings on each side of the snap waist opening. Although the pants zip and snap closed, you can still use the drawstring on either side to keep the pants cinched up to the right size. This is a big asset, since we still can’t find pants that properly for her.Compared to the comparable Mizuno zippered/belted girls’ pants, these are lighter in weight, and the rear end coverage is smaller (low-rise). The Mizuno pair is nicer (but also has issues).One issue with these pants is regarding the elastic around the leg bottoms. They are very tiny, and my daughter’s legs are a normal size. I noticed that they are tight around my very small wrist, so she can’t wear them “as is.” I’m going to have to remove the elastic or return them. We are just having a very hard time finding pants that fit, so I haven’t decided yet.

I will edit (if allowed) later on the comfort & durability. Product is as described & do run small. My daughter normally wears a 10/12 (lg in most brands) I went ahead and ordered XL & they fit perfect, they even had just enough “wiggle room” for her to comfortably wear a belt with them. Elastic on bottom appears stretchy enough to be comfortable with thick knee high socks as well. Will likely order a second pair!
