this book is a must
Palestine on a Plate needs to be a staple for all households no matter what culture you are from. I am Palestinian and could not live without eating our food daily. Unfortunately, our mothers and grandmothers cook without measurements so it’s so hard for them to teach us. Joudie’s book allows us to cook all our staple dishes with the exact recipes. My 12 year old daughter loves cooking from Palestine on a Plate. We have so much fun and when we create these amazing dishes, it helps instill our traditions in our children. I’ve also purchased several of these books for friends who are not Palestinian because they love our food. They actually cook more than we do and always send me photos of their dishes. Palestine on a Plate is a book you can pass through the generations. One of our favorite dishes is Kousa Bil Laban, maklouba and Warak Inab Ma’ Lahme Wa Kousa and for dessert we love banana & Medjool Date Cake. This book is not just a recipe book; it’s a history book with recipes and love. This book is truly needed for everyone who wants to explore our beautiful history and for all those who love our food. If you are a foodie, get this book ASAP.

Delicious and Accessible
I absolutely adore this cookbook. My wife and I have a fairly large collection and this has come to the top of the rotation in short order. We’ve made 8 recipes so far and every single one has been a banger. There are a few spices you might need to pick up, most are available at a well stocked grocery, a Middle Eastern market, or in a pinch online. Lots of vegetables, particularly eggplant, which my wife doesn’t typically enjoy but for which she has developed a taste. I would recommend this if you’ve got a vegetarian or vegan in your life; while not a vegetarian cookbook it does have quite a few veg friendly entrees and sides. The author’s prose is warm without being superfluous, which is a rare balance in a cookbook. The photography is excellent, and every recipe has a photo. I could not recommend this more highly.

Absolutely stunning
I don't know how you managed to publish such a high-quality book and sell it for so little. I feel like I'm stealing. Okay, now that that's out of the way...My book arrived yesterday. As soon as I saw the quality, I washed and dried my hands, sat down in a comfortable place, and treated the work of art with the respect and reverence it deserves. This book is a feast for the eyes. The recipes are laid out beautifully, and because of the quality of the paper and binding, the entire book is easy to use as well. It is substantial at over an inch thick. There are too many details and special touches to point out, so I will just say they all moved me. The blue tile pattern on the inside of the cover is so familiar and welcoming. So many familiar dishes, all beautifully displayed and described. My senses are still trying to take it all in.The photography is stunning. The quality and staging of each dish is unequaled. The illustrative photos represent the welcoming traditions of all Palestinians, no matter where we are perched in the world; they are ever-present and irrepressible.Thank you to everyone who had a hand and heart in bringing this book to life.

My new favorite
I love this book. I had this in my wishlist for months and finally bought it for myself. I am making my way through all of the recipes and each meal is just as good as the last. Current favorite is the beet and lentil salad. So glad I purchased this.

Must buy! I want to make every recipe!
I am completely thrilled with this cookbook. The recipes are incredible. I’ve never owned a cookbook that I wanted to make every single dish. The beautiful pictures bring the recipes to life on the page. There are a few recipes that are similar to the Lebanese food I grew up eating and now make. I am so excited to try some new dishes as well. You need to buy this cookbook! You will not be disappointed.

Palestine - The Land of historic flavours (Healthy too)
OMG! I have so much to write but firstly, let me start on the important fact about the recipes!THEY’RE HEALTHY AS WELL AS INDULGENT!!!The amazing author Ukhti Joudie Kalla has present the true flavours of Palestine. What I like is there is no change to suit the pallets of diners or cooks who have never tried the flavours. It’s pure and rustic and she has also put in elements to the dishes that make you through taste feel the sense of what Palestinians love on. Being a British Bangladeshi, our foods have a lot of Vegeterian, fish and meat dishes however they are the main appeal to the dish with the vegetables being the compliment to it. In a Palestinian dish, vegetables are the main showstoppers with meats and poultry being the accessory in flavour. When we look at Palestine now, majority think, oh no how do they live, blah blah. But.. they have hearts as bigger than any Nawaab or Queens as they share their food and through the food, you feel the love. Joudie Kalla has amazed me. To be honest I was looking for Palestinian and Syrian cookbooks and have bought some from the US although I really wished someone from the UK would make one, God heard my wish and in 3 months time this book came out (have it on iBook too). Dishes like Makloubeh, musakkan, malfouf are amazingly full of flavour, who would have thought stuffed cabbages can be eaten like somosas? Makloubeh is an upside down rice dish with layered vegetable and meat ( the mother to a Persian Tahdig and Desi Biryani). People review only buy how they judge a cookbook but if you cook, remember, estimation and flavours are always different in the taste of every pallet so alter to taste. Long live the Palestinians!

Exquisite Authentic Palestinian Cuisine But No Knaffe :(
I first visited Palestine in 2016, and I fell in love with its aromatic foods. I bought this as a gift for the Mrs who like me loves Palestinian food and loves to cook! The recipes look amazing and easy to follow. To date we’ve made around 5 dishes so far and they’ve been sensationalising our tastebuds and reminding us of the beloved lands of Palestine. My only heartache was that there’s no recipe for Knaffe!!! Come on, that’s like the best Palestinian desert ever!!! Hopefully she includes this in her new book coming out in October.

Wonderful book
This is a really lovely book with some fantastic recipes. I'm a vegetarian who prefers the Mediterranean style of food and my husband is a meat-eater who prefers Asian (Pakistani) cooking - Palestinian food suits us both and this book offers a great range of both meat and veggie dishes for us to share. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely LOVE this book! I have cooked several things from it and everyone has been very pleased at the dining table. I have big meat-eaters, vegetarians and vegans to cook for and can honestly say that you can find something for everyone and their dietery requirements in this book!
