I don’t write many reviews but I can’t tell you how many brushes and combs I have tried on my Maine coons. First one of my Maine coons has very thick kinky fur that tends mat very easily. I felt like it didn’t matter how much I combed him he just kept matting. He also hated being brushed which made it even more challenging. I had a whole pile of brushes because I was desperate to find one that worked. None could get through all his fur and none he would sit still long enough. Since getting this long toothed rake i have been able to get all the way through his thick fur, and he lets me! I have been able to brush him nearly daily. I even get some purrs! And if I miss a few days and he gets mats I can work through them with the rake and a comb. Second, My other Maine coon has silky fur and doesn’t mat as much. But he is even more fussy. With the rake, he lets me brush him long enough to work a whole side and his main. This rake is amazing!

I have a long haired cat who hates being brushed. This is one of a whole bunch of diverse grooming tools I bought, and it's different than any of the others. I don't use it often, but when I do it's super helpful because of its unique function.Not to be used alone to groom the entire coat, but works wonders at getting tangles and clumps out of hard-to-reach areas that other tools can't get, such as lower chest and behind upper legs. Must be used with care, because it can tug at the cat's skin when there's a bad knot, which is when small SAFETY scissors (with rounded tips) become the best solution for a sensitive, long haired cat (but ONLY with EXTREME CAUTION so as not to risk cutting the cats skin). I purchased this V-rake after seeing it mentioned in a very comprehensive dog grooming book I borrowed from the library. It is literally a game changer for taking care of my F1 goldendoodle's coat. The small V-shaped rake lets you target small areas of knotted or matted fur, and you can slowly pick / brush at it to loosen up the knots. My dog does not appreciate getting brushed to the extend that it removes matting, but I think this is a better approach than shearing her like a sheep several times a year. Her coat feels much softer after getting this V-rake treatment. I wish I'd known about this rake when she was a puppy! Highly recommend for dogs who get matted fur.

Mat Pick works well but I find the handle is not so comfortable to hold. It is like the old discontinued Twinco Rake that had a flat wooden handle and was much easier to hold onto and comfortable in my hand. However, this AAaronco Pet Rake is the next best thing to the Twinco. I wish they still made the old Twinco.

Bought this on recommendation from our veterinarian. She had one for her cat and said it worked really well - and IT DOES!We have a Maine Coon Cat - he produces a lot of fur, and when we got him, his fur was partially matted and had to be cut.It took a couple of "wrestling matches" to get him used to it, but now he lays still and purrs and rotates (!) to make sure I brush him on "all sides"...I joke with my wife and say that "I have removed half a cat today..." - after giving him a good brushing...Now, I can brush out the undercoat before it gets matted.Cat is happy!Owners are happy!

If you have any long or medium haired pets in your home, this is a must. My older cat started getting mats lately and my vet recommended this comb and it has changed the game. Slicker brush didn’t touch her mats and I have gotten out 3-4 handfuls in the last few hours (as she tolerates.) We have 5 long/medium haired family members (2 dogs and 3 cats) and this is one of the very best purchases I’ve ever made for them!
