Simple, but effective
I use Somme older 1080i top-end consumer camcorders for video work. I was having some problems with glare from softbox lights in a room where the ceiling is just too low (but I have to film there a lot). This lense hood did the trick, eliminating the glare and staying out of the way of the shot. Excellent!

I order the wrong thing
I ordered the wrong size lens hood I guess. doesn't fix my camera. but it looks nice though. the micro sd card is great!

Lens Hood for Cannon Video Camera
This unit might work for the purpose intended on a 55mm camera but mine arrived with no 37mm adapter ring making it impossible to use on my Canon Video camera.It is highly likely that the unit would block the auto-focus sensor on the camera, especially with the 55mm to 37mm adapter in place, so it probably wouldn't have worked very well anyway.If I were you, I'd look for something better that is made for your camera.

It's plastic with plastic threads that seem to easily cross thread
Got what I paid for. It's plastic with plastic threads that seem to easily cross thread. I don't use it for that reason. There is also no way to add a filter once the hood is on.

Works Well
I have the HFS21, and the 58mm mount works fine (note: you don't screw it in all the way, you screw it in most of the way to the position you want it in, then bring the retaining nut down to lock it at that position).
