Godin Session Electric Guitar - Blackburst SG MN

My background: I've been playing guitar for 34 years, professionally and semi-professionally for the last 29 of them. I currently play in a blues band and for my church's worship team. Many, many hours per week practicing and on stage. I have owned many guitars in all price ranges over the years.First, let me clarify my 5-star review... for guitars in this price range, this is a 5-star guitar and in my opinion represents the absolute best bang-for-the-buck you can get from a guitar. It is better than any of the Mexican Fender Strats I tried. I took a risk buying it sight-unseen but I have to say it came in such good condition setup wise that I did not have to do a thing to the action or intonation... it played beautifully out of the box. There is not a blemish on this guitar anywhere to be seen. Godin's quality-control on this piece was absolutely fantastic.Now, compared to my PRS and Carvin guitars... well I would give it 4-stars. Of course those guitars cost me 3 to 4 times what this one did, so there you go... they SHOULD be better than this guitar and they are. But, this is one fine guitar that I am proud to play on stage.After I got it I replaced the humbucker with a Seymour Duncan P-Rail pickup and Triple Shot pickup ring (note there is no need for the push-pull switch on the tone pot with this setup.) This pickup lets me get traditional S-S-S, P90-S-S, and H-S-S (both parallel and serial) from one guitar. This REALLY turns this guitar into a tonal monster. The P90 sounds awesone and the humbucker mode of this pickup blows the stock one away.I got an amazing deal on this guitar and after putting the new pickup and ring in it I still only paid a total of $520. You will be hard-pressed to find another guitar that sounds and plays as well as this one for that price.

I'd been looking for a single coil equipped guitar for a while. Nothing beat the combination of build quality, sound and value offered by the Godin Session.
