What is the maximum angle you recommend fitting at? Presumably beyond a certain angle, the rail isn't going to hold very many garments?

Don't know exactly angle, but have it in attic eaves and ut works well

What weight overall can the 900mm rail take, I want to hang all coats which would be quite heavy, will the coil become out of shape?

The coil is very strong, it can take a lot of weight however you do need to secure it properly and robustly. I used 4 inch screws straight into the wooden beams.

How do i attach it to plasterboard securely? i can't 'hear' any wood behind the plasterboard when i tap it. will plasterboard screws really work?

Hello, Zebedee does need to be secured into a wood support. That support can be surface mounted using several plasterboard plugs and no nails glue. Or consider mounting two supports,one top and one bottom, going across between the hidden supports, or fully line the ceiling, like a wardrobe top. If in doubt, please consult a joiner.
