Sesame Street Let's Cook!

“I DID it!” (with a big grin)
The first eight pages discuss nutrition, portion sizes, allergies, and safety. My toddler may be more interested in the “ABC’s of Healthy Food” letter correspondences in the future but for now he delights in the vibrantly colored pages as he identifies the foods. Together time in the kitchen is one of my favorite memories from my childhood. This book has paid for itself already with the one recipe we have tried. We substituted dried cranberries for dried cherries, and oh my gosh it tasted delicious. It is seriously better than my typical blueberry muffins; it Including oats, yogurt to replace oil, and whole wheat flower. Nutrition habits are built at a very early age and at my age I still love learning. The recipes are grouped into various meal times and snacks. Each recipe is marked to show activities a child could help with. My son learned to measure flour more accurately, by using a butter knife to level it off. He takes great pride that he helped made the muffins. We spend a half hour reading books each day. I plan to spend an hour a week sharing home cooked meals with his help. We very rarely eat out, due to cost. This book will save is from evenings of mac and cheese and salmon burgers due to its variety. I highly recommend this book.-JS

has been great with my 10yo
I bought this book at least two years ago - possibly even longer ago - not sure. It was fine at the time, but didn't really capture his interest, and the recipes weren't so enticing to me that I ever pulled it out myself. Fast-fwd to the time of COVID - hah - I had several interests in mind: 1 - reduce iPad time 2 - present an engaging activity we could do together 3 - teach him self-sufficiency. Check, check and check! Plenty of vegetarian recipes, which is good because I'm a pescatarian - many that can easily be meatified, and, better yet - only partially meatified (so he and my husband can have meat without me having to, and yes - I know that's a made up word), all have at least a serving of veggies (or fruits for breakfasts and snacks), sometimes more, and so far the recipes have passed my husband's taste bud's test (it's a tough one - I don't pass the test often myself... LOL - I think it helps that his darling son was involved ;-). He's having fun - he told his friend via FaceTime when we were about to get started 'hey, I have to cook with my mom - it's this summer thing she decided, but it's actually fun - I'll call you back in 20 minutes, ok?' - LOL Highly recommend!

None of the muppets from Sesame Street were harmed in the making of this cookbook.
There are 50 recipes in this book and each one contains at least two steps that a child can safely and easily accomplish. They are divided by course and feature a specific character from Sesame Street on every other page. Icons, suggested variations, preparation times, ingredients, and equipment are listed for each recipe. Tips, educational tid-bits and activity suggestions appear frequently throughout the cookbook. There is a believable mix of tried and true toddler favorites and "dare-to-dream" recipes to tempt your child to try. All of the recipes have beautiful, full-page photographs. All of the recipes are healthy and stress whole foods.

Wonderful cook book for toddlers and young children!
This cook book has easy directions and wonderful pictures of easy to prepare meals that toddlers and young elementary children can follow. My seven-year-old grand daughter chose Big Bird's nest egg salad as our first adventure. It was easy to make the salad with a prepared salad mix. We didn't need to cut carrots and other colorful items in the salad. We boiled the eggs and had fun peeling the shells off the eggs. We added some cooked chicken not in the original recipe to entice Grandpa to eat the salad. The three-year old grandson didn't want the greens in the salad but loved the presentation and snarfed down the boiled eggs. A fun and very easy meal to prepare! We'll do other recipes next time they come. I may have to order one of these cook books for myself after I send it home with the grand kids. The cookbook came quickly and in great packaging. The spiral bound makes it easier to use. We are very satisfied customers!

Easy, flexible, collaborative for toddlers and up!
Precious cookbook with easy to follow recipes (catering to young children), that by virtue of their simplicity are pretty widely flexible for the adult to add flavor, texture, cooking time, etc.My 2.5 yo has chosen 2 recipes so far, the zucchini and tomato fettuccine, and the multigrain cherry muffins (pictured above). We added to the first recipe (double garlic and lemon, cook tomatoes down, add basil, chicken, broth, pepper, cook in more Parmesan), and veered wildly from the second (Greek yogurt for plain, extra oil, cake flour for whole wheat flour, craisins not cherries, add vanilla, etc), and both came out surprisingly well. The characters add to the excitement, and the habit of starting with fresh groceries and ending with a pretty mess-free meal, are the main pros to be gleaned here.

Stock Up On Microwave Meals—These Recipies Are Hit-And-Miss
This book did at least get my toddler excited about spending time with me in the kitchen. We have a good time bonding over preparing meals. But the recipes are SO hit-and-miss. Quinoa salad and chicken salad were really good; but the mac and cheese and sweet potatoes were so lousy. To be fair, I’m pretty new to cooking, so maybe a more experienced parent wouldn’t have the problems I did.

This has to be the cutest cook book for your little one.
This has to be the cutest cook book for your little one. I bought this for my almost 4 year old who LOVES Elmo. The book is like a story with recipes. It will provide you with many options for breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks! Everything is pretty simple and most recipes have simple ingredients that you may already have in the fridge or pantry. Also, the book encourages the child to help participate in the cooking process. Letting my toddler help has made him want to try new food. This may be the case since he was the one who 'made' the meal. Either way I love this book!

A fun time in the kitchen.
I absolutely loved using this book with my 2 year old son. It's been a fun recipe book to go through together during quarantine and we've found a few recipes we'll continue using. My son will even just flip through it and look at the pictures if I'm doing a step he can't do. Definitely recommend it.

Looking forward to giving this to my niece. It is a little more advanced than I expected but looks super full overall! I like that nutrition is promoted.
