Perfect Spanish with the Michel Thomas Method (Michel Thomas Series) Bilingual Edition

I loved the original eight disk foundation (no blue packaging, the original). It was wonderful. I learned so much.I only got two disks with my order. None were of MichelThomas Himself. The teacher on the recording did not use students, which is the hallmark of the method. She did pepper her remarks with comments like, as Michel Thomas so wonderfully taught you. She referred to him incessantly, without using his methodology. The scripting was awkward and there was no clear progression from lesson to lesson.In reading other comments for this product, it seems that it is not consistant. I am a verified amazon purchaser and this is what I got.I have purchased the original Michel Thomas continuation set, so you can just pick up where you left off in the foundation. It is available on itunes at a very reasonable price.By the way, the Polish course is fantastic. Excellent teacher using the method with students and lots of mnemonic tricks. I had a good enough command to get by! So there is no reason for the Spanish to fall entirely short of the mark.My other comment on the newly released series is that what follows what and replaces what is byzantine. They have devised tables and charts. Really. Not user friendly. The simplicity was the beauty of MT.

This boxed set of CDs would be pretty helpful for a person who had taken one Spanish class in the past and needed a review and some movement forward. For me, the first few CD's were Vocabulary that I already knew. CD No. 4 is my personal favorite because it covers many aspects of grammar. I like the wayMichel Thomas works with a man & woman student and leads them to make the correct grammatical choices.

I was a little hesitant about the ongoing class format, but in the end really liked it. The best part is when Michel gets a little impatient with the students for guessing...very entertaining. However, his little tricks to remember when to "switch tracks" are awesome. Really solid review of word order and tenses and not boring.

I purchased Michel Thomas's foundation course which was excellent! This one is much of the same only adding in a few tenses. He uses the same vocabulary so no new knowledge there. Also there are only 4 CDs with Michel himself. The other 4 CDs is someone else teaching his method. Wasn't thrilled with this one....

I would very much like to see Rose Lee Hayden do more Michel Thomas Spanish classes with the two native speakers. I think she has made a suberb contribution to the CDs that are available and would like to see more.

The lessons are taught by some lady instead of Michele Thomas and aren't nearly as good. Also you need to buy all of the Michele Thomas cds to build up to this. Overall very poor.

This set really reinforces one's Spanish and te addition of the vocab disks adds the one thingThomas's earlier sets lakes, which was a chance for more conversational fluency.

On the plus side, the grammar section as always is very useful and gives a sound basis for the structure of the language. Some of the handy little learning methods are very good too. You can definitely learn a lot from this course and I would recommend it as an really good starting point or aid to learning Spanish. On the down side. Michel Thomas' Spanish accent is not great and the over emphasis on the stresses is not really relevant in Spain as I've since discovered. However it is probably better to over stress than under stress and can easily be rectified later. Also Michel Thomas uses mostly the formal form of you (usted). This is largely due to the age of the original recording as in Spain today it is largely the tu familiar form of you that is used and very little space is given to this form here. As before however you can pick this up later. Also the teaching is more geared to Latin American Spanish and therefore some sounds are different although these are mentioned and examples given. In Latin America too some forms such as the plural for the informal you are not used, so this is not mentioned at all and I didn't even find out about this part of the conjugation of verbs till much later. Later in the tape in the vocabulary section she does briefly give an explanation for this, albeit a rather lame one. The woman's accent in the vocabulary section is apallingly American with hardly a trace of Spanish it it and there are one or two errors. Fortunately I had studied long enough beforehand to have already picked up a good grasp of the accent so it wasn't too much of a problem. The review section is not particularly good and there are mistakes and oversights in it. However, all in all for the price it is is good value and covers a lot more Spanish that other courses, where prices are nothing short of exorbitant. This will help you learn Spanish without doubt and you will be able to overcome the pitfalls of the course without too much trouble later in your studies. If you struggle with learning languages then this is definitely the course for you.

I bought this 5 years ago and still listen to the cds regularly as they make learning a language a lot easier. I am almost fluent in Spanish now.

If you enjoyed a Total Spanish then this is the perfect next step. It starts by reviewing the Spanish from the previous CDs and then gradually adds more detail. This set has 2 new students which is a nice change!

Another addition to my Spanish
