A beautiful work of art.
So I purchased this the day before yesterday, the amazing seller, 8th Street Music, shipped it out for me the next day which was yesterday and I received it from UPS today! This high D whistle from Carbony Celtic Winds is a joy and pleasure to play. I am completely brand new to the pennywhistle as I just started playing 5 days ago after receiving a Clarke Celtic Tinwhistle in high D from Amazon. That whistle was ok for a few days but I knew I needed a high end professional level whistle and this Carbony Celtic Winds whistle is just perfect! I can hit all the notes in the first 2 octaves with ease. The third octave is far too advanced for me to even consider right now. I have been playing lots of my favorite tunes by ear, and can play around a dozen popular songs from movies and tv shows from videos online. I wish I started my musical journey with the Tinwhistle years ago. I am a very happy customer for both the product and the wonderful seller. I plan to do business again with both.

Perfect penny whistle!
Absolutely am in love with my new whistle from Carbony! This is my first penny whistle, and I dont think I could have made a better choice. Everything about it is perfect and flawless. The cloth case is inadequate though, so I went to their website, and ordered a handmade leather case for $60. I want my new instrument protected and the bag it comes with is cheap, and worthless, in my opinion. Everything else is great! You wont regret buying this whistle!

I Like the Tone and Durabiliy
I like the mellowness of this whistles tone, but may not be loud enough for some venues. Most low cost whistles out there are unpredictable in the sound and tuning, and how durable their finish is. For a louder, less expensive whistle that's durable and tunable, I find that I like Smart whistle.

good product
This is a quality pennywhistle. It will last a life time. It did not include an instruction sheet, or any sheet music at all. at these prices I think they could've included some sheet music.

Easy to play, great sound
I purchased this whistle at the Portland Highland games a few months ago. Since then I've found myself playing the whistle much more than I previously was. I have several other brands (all cheap) and they just don't compare. My only other experience with quality whistles is trying them out at highland games, but the Carbony whistles stood out so much I had to buy one.I've always had to concentrate more than I really wanted to in order to hit the low D, especially when jumping down from a much higher note, but with this Carbony D, hitting the low D is a piece of cake. (In theory, this is due to the tapering.) I hardly have to think about it anymore. When playing indoors on my cheap brass whistles, the higher notes hurt my ears, so I tended to play songs without many high notes. I mostly just played my low D inside. But the higher notes on this Carbony aren't ear piercing. It's hard to explain, but they just don't hurt my ears like my cheaper whistles do so I find myself playing this whistle almost exclusively.Since it's made from carbon fiber, this whistle is very light. I know, D whistles aren't exactly heavy to begin with, but this whistle weighs nothing. The only difference this has made, that I can tell, is that it's less likely to slide down my thumbs when I take my fingers off. This is really only an issue if you're holding the whistle too vertical, but I do that on occasion, so I consider it an advantage. As far as sound quality goes, it sounds 10x better than any of my cheap whistles. It doesn't have that airy sound, like most of the air is just making a blowing noise instead of sounding the note. The notes are very solid and I can control the sound with much more precision. The product info doesn't mention that this whistle is tune-able, but I can't imagine it isn't. Mine is and it looks exactly the same. The mouth piece isn't glued to the carbon fiber body, so you can adjust it a bit to match another whistler. You obviously can't change keys, but you can make sure your notes aren't a hair off from everyone else's.All in all, a great whistle and I'm seriously considering buying another one.

Love this whistle!
I started learning with a Clarke Celtic Tin Whistle - D - and after a few months of practice (and a cracked mouthpiece and rusted interior from all my spit), decided it was time for an upgrade. Honestly, I'm obsessed and will probably buy a D whistle in every material possible eventually, and then buy one in every key in my favorite material. My husband is a cycling enthusiast and has a bike with a carbon fiber frame and carbon fiber wheels, so semi-joked that he was going to make me a carbon fiber whistle. I looked it up and was surprised and delighted to find that such a thing already existed!Overall, I love the tone and quality of sound from this whistle. It's definitely lighter weight than the Clarke, bigger around and not as dramatically tapered, so there are some slight adjustments to make for fingering. I also figured out as a result of using this whistle (which has a shorter mouthpiece) that when playing C#, I have been holding the whistle with my teeth (rather than supporting the bottom with my pinky finger)... so I have a bad habit to break. Higher notes require more forceful breath on this one than the Clarke, but I have been working to strengthen my lungs so I'm sure this won't be an issue eventually.Fantastic upgrade from what I had! :)

great whistle
This is a great instrument. Sounds fantastic, and made to take a beating! As the previous reviewer stated, these whistles will last a lifetime. The $129.99 retail price is extremely high, though. I bought my whistle from a Pipe Makers Union salesman this summer at an Irish festival and their retail price was $75.
