Fleur de Sel de Guerande is an all-natural sea salt sourced from the pristine waters of Brittany, France. Excellent salt
I love this stuff! It’s fantastic to sprinkle on food as a finishing touch. The larger crystals make for great flavor, not unlike kosher salt (but better in my opinion.) It’s got a more complex flavor because of the other minerals present (as opposed to refined table salt.) It’s hand gathered in the traditional manner in Guerande so I also appreciate its connection to traditional French culture, which is close to my heart. I also appreciate that it’s more sustainable than, I’d imagine, Himalayan varieties. Some have complained about his type of salt being wet, and taken stars off because of that (they seemed to think they’d been cheated.) Buyers should realize that this type of salt is traditional and minimally processed and is supposed to be damp. This is part of the way the salt is supposed to be. If that’s off-putting, then I don’t recommend buying Guerande salt because this is what you’ll get. In my opinion, this is not even close to a negative. It’s part of the experience. One of my favorite salts ever!

Top quality product
I’ve ordered this product multiple times. I like getting the larger bag because I use it to fill a jar I use for Fleur de Sel. If you are unfamiliar with this product it is a slightly damp/wet salt like sel gris. It tends to clump and stick together because of this. It is a finishing salt— meant to be used for its delicate, nuanced flavor. I fully admit to using (and loving) it on my popcorn.

Guerande is Grand.
I purchased nearly every kind of salt available on Ammie to compare them. I found that the Fleur salts were not as flaky as I would hope. It could be that the bag allows the salt to crumble as opposed to the box? Compared to the Maldon Flakes which are my staple these Fluer varieties are similar to Ceylon green or Grey Sea salts. This salt excels above Maldon in its slightly moist and full flavor. Maldon has wonderful gem like crystal flakes. I would put the palate of this Fleur salt only slightly below Persian Blue's flavor (Blue made me say Wow!)

Expensive but worth the price
I first brought this salt while on vacation in France and when I ran out initially I able to find it locally. But when the store that carried it closed I tried several other gourmet salts but none compared. I use it mostly to finish a dish or as a condiment on the table. It’s the perfect combination of coarseness and brine. It’s expensive but the larger bag is more economical for me because it’s difficult to find locally.

Meh
I may be a heathen, but I can't detect a significant taste difference. Texture wise this stuff is great for cookies or garnishing.

Table salt of the gods
I used to haul this back in a suitcase from France, back when it was hard to get in the U.S. (Good thing Customs didn't take an interest in that exotic white powder.) Accept no substitute. This is the real deal. I use Kosher and sea salt in the kitchen, but serve the Fleur de Sel at table. It enhances anything savory, and then some. Expensive, but a bag will last maybe six months. I have bought and enjoyed a few other brands, but always seem to come back to that little purple bag.

If you haven't tried Fleur de Sel...you haven't lived.
If you haven't tried Fleur de Sel...you haven't lived. This is just fantastic salt. Great flavor..great crunch....Perfect on steaks, popcorn, fries...basically anything. Not for cooking. it doesn't measure equally to table salt. and shouldn't be wasted that way. its so good...its like a treat to just eat a few grains all by itself.

The best salt, hands down
I love this salt. It is course, briny and yet crisp and clean tasting. It’s in its natural form, giving it a gray hue. Everyone I’ve bought this for has re purchased. It’s really that good
