does not wash as well as I'd like
when first received and washed once, the blanket seemed soft and it is a great swaddle size. But, after repeated washing (4-5 times) the material does not wash very well. It pills a little and is not as soft - and my baby is 3 weeks old. I did decide to purchase another one of these because of the good swaddle size, but it could be better. Also I swear that this particular blanket was softer then the other one I ordered.

Great, but maybe too toasty
We love these blankets very much. However, I will say that because they are flannel, they can be quite warm. So, when we wrap our babies in them, we have to remember to put them in very little clothing or no clothing at all.I guess it is hard to complain that the blankets are too warm, but oh well, that's what I'm doing. :-)

Soft and durable
I got 2 of these blankets when my son was first born. From the moment I opened them I loved them, the fabric is so soft and the blankets are big so even now that my son is older we still use them, unlike the standard size receiving blankets. The scalloped edge looks very old fashioned and darling next to baby. When he was a newborn we practiced swaddling him, but he liked to be wrapped more loosely and the size of these blankets was perfect. They are very warm, in my opinion, too warm for swaddling. The hold up to washing pretty well, now after many washings they are pilled up the tiniest bit but I would rather have that than chemicals to prevent it! The only negative I can say is that the "patented tags" are really big, cumbersome and made of synthetic material, I cut mine off. I love that they are made in the US and that the cotton is grown in the US, I have read that other countries (i.e. India) organic certification is not up to par with the US's. All in all, I highly recommend these--you pay more for them but you'll use them the most and the longest!

Swaddle Blanket
This blanket is scratchy and the baby doesn't like at all. I would not recommend to anyone. I followed the washing instructions and was very disappointed. I wasted my money.

soft, large, strong -- the only swaddling blanket you'll need
We tried other swaddling blankets but this is the only one we use. We received it as a gift and bought two more. The fabric is the perfect weight for swaddling--large and tightly woven enough to hold our squirmy 9-pound-newborn baby firmly and warmly (not too warmly), soft enough that you feel good wrapping your baby in it (the organic cotton helps, too). If you have a strong baby, then don't waste your time with blankets made of T-shirt material, waffle weave, or the like; they stretch too much and baby's arms will be out in no time. A nice feature is that this blanket has a tag, well-placed out of the way of baby's face, that shows how to swaddle your baby in three easy steps (useful if you need a gentle reminder in your haze of sleep deprivation). The soft pile does thin a bit with multiple washings, but only slightly.

great!
Our infant liked being swaddled until she was older and longer. She was about 4 months old before we were able to stop swaddling her (but she was a long baby). This swaddle fit her perfectly. She liked it and slept well in it.Now I use it by rolling it up tightly and tucking it into my diaper bag, it works for trips to the park when she had "tummy time" and now I can use it as a light blanket for her if we are out and it gets chilly. So it has been one of the most versatile blankets and well used blankets we have had. This is a great baby gift for yourself or a friend, because those initial receiving blankets only work for about the first 4 weeks of life, and then it seems the baby outgrows them, so those seem like a waste to me now.

The ultimate organic blanket
I have bought these blankets for my two children and as gifts for parents of newborns. They never fail to please people. There is so much that you can do with them. You can fold it into a triangle and role it a little and put it under your childs arms to help them walk when taking their first steps. It really saves your back from having to bend over all the time. They are great for keeping warm in winter and for keeping cool in summer. My 4 1/2 year old puts his blanket over his pillow and sleeps on it and calls it his baby blanket. We've had it for as long as he was born and it's still so very soft after all the washes.Buy them, you won't be disappointed.

Wasn't expecting what I got out of the dryer.
I bought this cute organic blanket for our little on who is on the way. Actually I bought 3 or 4 of them. I put it in the washing machine and then the dryer like I do all new clothes and items such as this....but this blanket came out just FULL of fluff balls, they were falling off onto the floor, you could almost breathe them in they was so many and some so small. I decided to run it through the whole wash/dry routine 2 more times, and then they came out much better. They are very soft, and I like that being organic they'll be healthier for our little one's skin.....you just have to be prepared to de-fluff-ball them first.I still would buy them again though...it's worth it.
