Fantastic Best of his peoms
Lots of poetry. I style remains throughout and you can see his maturity as he ages into spirituality. Some during his early years could be read as loving sex or as loving earth. Some is quite profound. I just the quality best with those sticky flag markers. When the book was finished it felt like i had flagged the whole book so I an rereading the whole book and flagging just the lines loved. The are some of his lines reused with different meanings, so it must be read in contex of the poem series. This book covers the best of all his books.

Paz is a poet who stuns
I am a poet and a writer who, ashamedly, only recently found Paz's poetry. I have not fallen so instantly in love with a writer for a very long time. This edition is a beautiful introduction to poetry which is philosophical, ecstatic, and searing. It's already one of my most prized possessions, and I read a poem every time I need a boost of beauty throughout my day.

Beautiful, surprising poetry
Octavio Paz is a marvelous poet – his poems are always fresh and surprising like enchanted flowers. The Spanish language itself is lush with brilliant poets, Machado, Jiménez, Lorca, Neruda, Paz, to name just a few modern ones. I am hard pressed to come up with any 20th century English or American poets that are as gifted. The Poems of Octavio Paz, edited by Eliot Weinberger is an attractive book. My copy is paperback. It has the Spanish text on the left page and good, respectful English translations on the right.

Octavio Paz, Mexican poet laureate
Written in Spanish with English translations. For Spanish readers, Octavio Paz sweeps you away with his words, phrases and art of his poetry. The English version lacks the subtleties of the Spanish language, but at least gives the reader a sense of what the poetry conveyed.

Loved it!
Octavio Paz was born in Mexico City on March 31, 1914, the same city where he died in 1998, at age eighty-four. Starting to publish his first poems while still a teenager he was quickly recognised and his great success culminated in his receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1990.The book 'The Poems of Octavio Paz' assembles his most important poems from his early to his last years. The poems reflect his travels, his life, his love for nature and people, but ever so often is just a shadow of time, a diving into a ephemeral moment where you are here, but also there, not yet left, but already arrived, walking without moving. Paz' writing is brilliant, colourful, rich, a firework of emotions.Octavio Paz is one of my favourite poets, his poems feed my soul.
