Very please with the book
I order this book having been diagnosed with HFE several months back and am pleased with it. I have already tried Quinoa Chili (Bean-less) and was happy with the taste...Quinoa is boring. The author has done a good job in explaining the disease and how it affects other organs in the body. Her recipes are easy to follow, they have the iron listed along with fiber, protein, etc. I am cooking for myself and my husband who has Diverticulitis, so the fiber intake is appreciated. I ordered with another book The Hemochromatosis Cookbook, which has the exact same recipes, in the same order, but poorly written information. I prefer this book, the author seems more educated in the field. Hope you get a cookbook for HFE and Hypothyroidism together, would make my life a lot easier. Very Please!

Lots of recipes
I do like the layout of the book, but I want to let people know that a large potion of it is recipes. If you find that your regular diet/things you make at home are full of iron rich foods and you don't trust yourself to figure out what to make instead- or rather are just too dang busy to read the first portion of the book that tells you what to avoid and how to eat well- then this is PERFECT. It sounds like I am being snarky but this is actually exactly what I needed. I'm very busy, as we all are, and sometimes when I'm reading at night I don't truly absorb what I'm reading. This way I can just grab some recipes from the back and know, yes, these are fine and won't cause any issues regarding iron intake. I don't know if I'd like the book as much if I had to just keep the list of iron rich foods in my bag and take it out every time I went grocery shopping. Sure, some things you already know and you'll come to memorize it over time but when you want to be careful with your diet you tend to want to start Yesterday. Good for people who are just lazy and can't be bothered to put effort in to reading about their health, ahem *cough*, not me, ahem.

Helpful information
I recently learned I have elevated ferritin levels, and because I receive few explanations from my PCP, I have to resort to either grilling him to explain things, or go to books to learn information! I was not aware that aphersis could be an option for removing red blood cells in this condition. Having had plasmapheresis in the past, I am familiar with the procedure. This piece of info was worth the cost of the book to me! The recipies use many ingredients that upset my stomach, so although they are of some value to me, I wish more had blander ingredients which I can tolerate. Overall, I would buy this book again and appreciate the knowledge gained from it!

incredible book in guiding us through the journey
As someone who had iron deficiency my whole life it came as quite a surprise to find out that my partner has hemochramotis! I didn't even know iron overload was a thing but alas it his and this book has been an absolutely incredible book in guiding us through the journey. The author truly does a great job of breaking down what hemocrhomatosis means, how it impacts your life but most importantly, how to make sure you live your best life! The book is jam packed full of recipes ranging from full meals to salads and beyond. I will have to say that hands down my favorite recipe is the polenta caprese salad, MMMH. my mouth is watering just thinking about it. It's a great spin on a classic and favorite dish, at least my favorite haha.

Follow the guidelines given in this book to maintain your hemochromatosis and live well and healthy.
This is an excellent book for people suffering or dealing with people who suffer with Hemochromatosis. The author does an excellent job explaining the condition, symptoms, screening, treatment, sources of iron, lifestyle modifications, dietary needs, and recipes. The book is easy to read and follow. A two-week meal plan is included. Recipes are for breakfast, appetizers and salads, lunch, dinner, beverages, and desserts. All recipes have ingredients already in your kitchen or easily accessible from the local grocery store. As with any diet, high fructose corn syrup should be avoided. I especially like that dietary inhibitors of iron absorption are given, such as tumeric. Follow the guidelines given in this book to maintain your hemochromatosis.
