These strips are only useful to get ballpark measurements in high ion concentration liquids. They are useless for other liquids.
These strips will only work with solutions of high ion concentration similar to saliva or urine. They are useless for other liquids.I bought these for horticultural use because the 4.5 - 9.0 range is ideal for plants. Most plants need a pH between 5.5 and 6.5. Since these are advertised for use in "anything liquid", I ordered some. My review is 2 parts. One is for the use in other liquids, and the other is for the saliva/urine testingPart 1: Horticultural use. I suspected a pH problem in my soil due to irregular plant growth. I used these strips to test a standard 1:2 soil slurry extraction and got a reading of less than 4.5 indicating extremely acidic soil. I then tested my tap water and got the same results. I added dolomite lime to my soil according to this information to raise the pH. A week later, my plants started showing severe deformation. After doing some research, I found that pH strips are useless and that the only way to get an accurate pH measurement is to use a pH probe calibrated at 2 or 3 points. I bought and properly calibrated a digital pH meter and found that the pH of my water was actually 8.5 and the pH of my soil was actually 7.1. This made more sense given the symptoms. In summary, these strips gave me highly inaccurate readings that resulted in damage to my plants. I should have taken measures to lower the pH, not raise the pH.I also tried to use these strips to test the pH of a buffered 450ppm hydroponics nutrient solution that I verified to be at a pH of 6.5. The strips once again gave me an erroneous and unrealistic reading of less than 4.5. Apparently, they will not change color at all in a solution unless it has a very high ion concentration (i.e. saliva or urine)Part 2: Urine and Saliva testingAccording to the instruction, the ideal pH range is between 6.5 and 7.5. The strips do change color in saliva and urine as advertised. However if you look at the subtle color change within this range, its quite difficult to discern between the increments. Effectively, you could be off by as much as .5 to .75, which is a lot given the logarithmic scale of pH. If your pH is a perfect 7, these strips will give you a rough idea that you are good, but if your pH is borderline around 6.5 or 7.5, it will be difficult to tell if you are in range.

Easy to use and awesome customer service
My dogs recently had struvite crystals appear in her urine. Not knowing a thing about this I began my research. That's when I learned about the ph levels of urine and needed something to test my pup's. I assumed I could just run to the local drug store for ph test strips and quickly found that was not the case. I immediately went to Amazon. Lol! In my search, Nurse Hatty had the best reviews and best value and I submitted my order. When the strips arrived, I was amazed and excited to see how easy it was to read the results. There are charts and directions galore included! As a bonus, I received a personal email from Nurse Hatty with an attachments from a user guide to foods to a detox program for my health. I never even thought about my OWN ph. I was concentrating on my doggy. But, wow, what great information! Nurse Hatty's email makes it apparent that she is always there for questions if you need her. That's hard to find these days! I feel like I have a personal nurse on call for my ph questions. It's fantastic!! Thanks so much for providing tools for people (and dogs!) to take control of, and understand, their own health! You are truly appreciated!!

Great for Home Testing!
I just had surgery to remove tumors, and, knowledgeable about naturopathic protocols, am aware that cancer cannot live in an alkaline environment. Two people I know have ensured that their pH level remains at 7.5...and prior to this elevated it, via diet to 8.0...for a period of 12 days. There are other protocols (natural) which have people surviving after traditional doctors have told them to go home and get things together...people in as high as state 4. Baking soda (preferably organic) taken according to protocol is an ingredient in chemo, and while chemo kills healthy cells, the baking soda neutralizes cancer cells. Along with other supplements, people can survive. It is wonderful to be able to test your pH at home...but the colours are off shade, when testing, as compared to the ones on the chart and box. That said, it still provides a good picture of where your pH level is at.

Exceptional product, Extraordinary customer care
This is the "real deal" - there is actually a Nurse Hatty who cares about the product, how it is used, it you are having a problem with the product or just need product related advice. I thought there was a problem with the test strips since our tap water showed a pH of 4.5, but I got an immediate email reply suggesting that I test vinegar, baking soda and cow's milk. I did and the test strips were exactly as they should have been, so the revelation was that our municipal tap water was not 6.9-9 as published on line but actually a shocking 4.5. If you have certain health conditions that depend on tap water close to neutral pH, this news can be distressing. Hatty wrote several emails actually recommending things I could do. I don't care what the product is, I would buy it from this seller before considering another source. This is extraordinary customer service and care that you never see for an online product. Thank you, Hatty, and I truly wish you the best in your business.

Accurate and easy to read scale
This is my second order of the Nurse Hatty PH Strips and I love them. I use them in the morning to help me determine my diet. I also use them for my dog Peanut! These strips are easy to read with the nice large scale on the bottle and are accurate! My Doctor even asked me which strips I’m using so she can recommend them to her other patients!!! She was so impressed with how well I was doing using these strips to keep me in balance. Great product!!
