Excellent, well-made starter loom kit
A great starter loom that comes with an instructional booklet to get you started, including a project you can make. The set also includes 2 shed sticks, 2 shuttles, yarn for the project, a plastic darning needle. If you are a very beginning student, it helps to look up additional step by step instructions online, or in a book such as "You Can Weave" by Kathleen Monaghan & Hermon Joyner, to fill in the gaps. The loom itself is well made and sturdy, beautiful wood. The tools are nicely made, too.To make the weaving process a little more efficient, I made a heddle stick from a 12" dowel rod, cotton yarn, and masking tape (using instructions in the "You Can Weave" book) so that I would not have to continue to "re-weave" in the shed sticks. So for one shed, I use the shed stick; for the 2nd shed I lift the heddle stick. That way I can keep the shed stick in place within the warp.

Great loom for beginners!
I mostly ordered this for the loom itself and it is great quality! I am a new weaver and this was a great size to start out on: not too big, not too small. The yarn is good quality too but just not the texture and colors that I wanted. Comes with everything you need to make one or maybe two tapestries

Good gift
My 9 year old son asked for a loom for Christmas. We had visited a factory and he saw the big, mechanical looms, and also a few hand looms (but big, with floor petals, and 5 feet tall). Obviously we were not going to pay $1000 for a loom for our 9 year old son, so we were looking for something. This one is nice. It is strong, and has kept him entertained for hours. Does take some work, not stepping on petals and sliding through the thread, comes with two sticks, one you leave in, and one you put back in every other time. Comes with the materials needed to start, and shows you in the instructions how to add different things. Makes one piece of cloth, maybe 12-18. Not huge, but keeps his hands busy. i believe I saw in the instructions on how to make a longer piece, but we have not gotten to that yet. Too complex for a 5 year old (our other son), but for a patient 9 year old, it works great. I also think for an adult, it would be fun, maybe the more complex designs.

I'm not exactly a kid, but I like it anyway
I'm actually a senior citizen and I really like this little loom. It's well-built (very sturdy) and as long as I use yarn I can see it just fine, although my eyes are not the best these days. Tiny thread and needles are a thing of the past for me.The needle they include is great. Has a great big eye so it's easy to thread, even for me. None of my old ones are quite as good, and I wonder where I could get some more like it because I worry about losing it.The only thing I would find fault with is that to me it needs something under it to keep my knees from going through it. I'm not sure how others mamage, but I cut the box that it came in down some and it is (of course) a perfect fit. Lifts right up and even out to get to the underside if I need to, and no more knees poking through! So my advice is "Don't throw away the box."Overall, I think it's a very good hobby for almost anybody.

sturdy loom
I've been weaving on a 20" rigid heddle loom. When I just want to make dishcloths or potholders, it irks me to warp the R.H. and so much yarn goes to waste because of the nature of that type of loom. So Santa bought this for me for Christmas. It should be great to sit in the recliner and watch t.v. while I weave away! It cost several hundred dollars for the R.H. loom, plus all the extra heddles, three different types of shuttles, a DVD course, etc. I will try to remember to update this after I make some projects. BTW, it took me several months just to learn the basics on the R.H. loom.

Awesome loom!!
Just received the loom today and opened the box. Was hesistant after reading a lot of the reviews that i made a mistake with this purchase. But, no. Its awesome. Its a beautifully finished wooden loom. In the reviews people mentioned the shed sticks and shuttle were rough but mine is nicely sanded and finished off smoothly to touch. Definitely wont catch on anything so im wondering if the company listened to the consumers concerns and updated the kit. The instruction book was also noted as difficult to follow but im not finding that to be an issue either. Even has pictures and diagrams to follow the instructions. Im very pleased with my purchase and anxious to let the weaving begin!!

Very nice frame and shuttle, bad sheds and wool
The actual weaving frame and shuttles are very nice, however, the wooden shed sticks are terrible! They snag anything on the frame and do not pass through the warp easily. So, I sanded them down with 220 and applied some Ashford beeswax/resin and another piece of wood popped up and I had to remove the splinter from my finger. Glad the sliver was mine and not my 7 yr old grand daughter's. The wool weft (included)is also terrible and full of joining knots. This is ok for teaching a 7 yr old how to weave, but she's already realized that her finished product will not look very nice.I think the company should re-think that quality of wood used for the sheds or not include them at all. This is the only reason I only rated the product 3 stars.

Very Pleased with this Loom
This loom is not too big or too small-just the right size for travel or just staying at home and weaving. The tools come with it and make life a lot easier while weaving. Starter yarn colors are available in the package which means you don't have to run out to the craft supply store and buy yarn right away unless you don't like the yarn provided. The information booklet is handy, only because I already know how to weave-but for beginners I would suggest they add photos of real weavings to enhance the instructions. I am very pleased with this company.
