Informational, Educational - I admit, I didn't look at the size when I ordered the book. When it arrived, I was pleased to see it was a nice tall hardcover book in excellent condition, even though I bought it used. This book is not a story, this is an educational book. My daughter is infatuated with Paris, and although she's 11 (note: below grade level reading, preteen mind) she wanted this book. She loves it. It's an easy way for her to remember places in Paris without it being textbooky. It's great for younger kids too of course! It has very nice drawings and brief passages about famous places and common sites of Paris. A nice touch in the later editions is that the editor has put "updates" to information such as: police are no longer on bicycles, but are on motorbikes, markets have moved, and other tidbits of change. If you buy educational books to read to your young children, I'd recommend this one as a nice introduction to the places in Paris. That, and Google Earth (ha ha). Review: A Classic - We wanted to get our 2 year old excited about our upcoming trip to Paris and this definitely did the job. He loved pointing things out and asking what they were. Once opened, we had to read it every night for a month ahead of our trip. Oh well. The pictures are beautiful and the prose is good too.

Darling!
Bought this for my 6 year old son. Wasn’t sure if he’d like it and he loves it. Now he wants to go to Paris, so that an extra bonus for me! It’s a fun way to learn about Paris while reading to your kids and, the illustrations are very cute.

Very educational!
We thought we were taking our almost 2 year-old to Paris with us when I bought this book. We ended up going without her, but my daughter loves reading this book. She was too young then for me to read word by word so I simplified it a bit and sang some songs with the story (songs about train, the bus and the donkey). She learned about cats, the painter, the Eiffel tower, the "Un fort", the church, etc. She loves Mona Lisa and knows that Mona Lisa "lives" in the Louvre. She often asks about Mona Lisa and gets really excited knowing that the page is coming up. The funny this was that she all a sudden blurted out "Eiffel Tower" during our trip to CA. She saw the electric tower that looked a little bit like Eiffel and thought that was it! I think she needs a Paris trip in the future so she can see the REAL Eiffel tower;)

This is a keeper
It has been almost 20 years ago when I purchased this book for my children. They loved the book so much that it became a part of the library of books that they never want to give to others. Recently, I saw this very same book at a gift shop, and it brought back the memories of sharing it with my children. This book is one of those "keeper" books. Not only will you and your children love it, but it will bring back memories once your children are grown.

WONDERFUL BOOK
