we are still looking for the top surround that is reasonably price the ones I've found are over 500.00 I didn't even pay that much for the bottom which I didn't know was separate.

Yes, this is for the base only, but it is a heavyweight item that wears well; I have used one - with the wall panels kit! - for over ten years. If there is a catch, though, it is that this requires a VERY special door, available only from Sterling (often by special order). If you look carefully at the enlarged view, you will see that the opening is not rectangular: the side walls of the base unit taper inward toward the bottom, so the opening is about an inch narrower at the bottom than at the start (top) of the base unit. (The wall pieces do present a parallel opening.) Sterling sells doors for this in two qualities - the cheaper one is a bit tacky but the better one is quite nice. The metal mounting edges into which the doors close are rather wedge shaped along the outside edge of the lower foot or so to accommodate the taper of the sides. Installation of the doors may take some imagination.

The Sterling Advantage seated shower is a great product. HOWEVER, Sterling has discontinued this product line. I installed a 48” four piece shower in 2002 and it’s still great!! Very sturdy construction. Many feet on the bottom for a solid feel under your feet. In fact, I didn’t level it when I first installed it, and continued to use it that way for fifteen years until finally taking it back out and leveling my floor. It has stood the test of time and rework.
