Wash in sunscreen. Simply add to your regular load of laundry for added UPF 30 protection. Safe for all washable fabrics. It will not add sun protection to polyester or acrylic fabrics. Use one pack for small, medium or large loads or two packs for extra large loads.

Great sun protection, no damage to clothes
This is my second summer buying this product. I am very pleased with it. I just use it in the wash cycle. It does not stain or cause a difference in texture or feel to fabric, and leaves no odor. And it really makes a difference in sun protection. The most difficult/annoying aspect is having to sort your laundry into loads of what you want treated (no need to treat jeans, socks, bedsheets, hand towels for example) so as to get the best value from this.

You will need TWO PACKS for a large load
I have no idea if it works or not.I tried to do all my summer T-shirts and shorts but, it is impossible to remember them all. I forgot one shirt and skipped a bunch of shorts. Why? Because you can't just dump one pack in a full size washing machine. You need two. Then, the price is too high.I ended up buying another to finish off all the T-shirts.Also, the water has to be pretty hot and, maybe you do not want to wash colored stuff in hot water. They need to engineer this to work in cold water and, include two packs with clearer instructions on the box. They use the same as they do for the dyes and, it is a mess.

Hot water only?
Directions say use the HOTTEST WATER TEMPERATURE. Well, almost ALL clothing washing directions today, are cold water only! I am not going to even try this and ruin any clothing. I do not think it can be used on synthetic fabrics either.

Small Quantity.
Be aware this is for a small box for one wash load.

Meh not worth the $
Just spend the money on regular sunscreen and call it good.

Great for photosensitive friends
So many SPF protection clothes are expensive to purchase and lack style. I purchased this for a lupus friend who loved it. Made for a thoughtful functional gift. A good compromise to the need for protection without sacrificing style.

So far, so good
If you have a front-loading washer, check the Rit website for usage instructions. I used the powdered detergent dispenser on my machine, but if yours doesn't have one you will need to dissolve the product first and follow the Rit instructions. The product works for cotton, linen, and rayon only -- not for synthetics. I don't have hard data to prove anything, but this pasty person came back from a week in the Caribbean still pasty, so I would say the stuff works.

Warning
I didn't realize that you have to use this product in warm water and 99% of my clothes are cold water wash.
