KryptoFlex 410 Double Loop Security Cable, 4FT Long Braided Steel Flex Bike Lock Anti-Theft Cable with Looped Ends for Outdoor Equipment, 10mm Thick

Works for what I need.. my Yakima bike rack has a built-in locking mechanism for the actual receiver portion but an extra layer of protection is always nice for peace of mind. I run this decent-size cable through the Yakima carrier directly to the hitch itself and lock it with a medium sized American Lock. I'm sure bottom line if somebody wanted it bad enough they'll go through the trouble of cutting it, well know that scum of the earth is in every state. but for 10 bucks I feel like it's definitely worth it and I love the quality feel of it

On a 60cm bike with a very high seatpost this is long enough to lock up my saddle, rear wheel, and Vector pedal (left side only). I lock my bike with an Abus Bordo X-Plus (like a U lock but the U is in flexible segments instead of a rigid U). I put the lock around the front wheel and frame, and this short cable is enough to add a little deterrent to the bike components. I don't have any theft protection on the cockpit beyond the brake and shifter cables. As it stands, someone would have to use tools to take most things off my bike - they could get the skewers - nothing else comes to mind... I can fit this cable in my back jeans pocket, but also I am 6'4" so IDK whether that would be true for smaller people. I wear 34" waist jeans. I'm still searching for a way to easily/quickly carry this on the bike but so far IDK. Also fits in a jersey pocket. The velcro cable tie is a nice touch - keeps it from springing open when coiled in a pocket. I wish it was smaller. I wish there was no theft in the world. BTW I'm sure most people know this already, but just in case this is the only text you ever read on locking up a bike: the trick to getting the most out of a double-loop cable is feeding it through one of its own loops. One end is looped around a wheel or saddle rail or whatever, and the other loop goes through the lock. That way you get double the coverage - or half the cable length - as you would putting your main lock through both loops of the cable. HTH, Michael

Even though I would never rely on this cable or any cable lock as my primary lock, I feel confident using this cable to lock my seat if I am using 2 high security locks. If I am gonna be real quick and pretty much have my eye on bike, I could use 1 high security lock and put the cable from my lock through my seat to the front tire. This cable is nice and thick and it is braided which is stronger than the twisted coil cables that most riders use.

There's thicker cables you can buy, but I'd rather risk a front tire than haul something that's heavy, bulky and difficult to pack. CONS: the 10mm thickness isn't available on the 2.6ft length, which is all that's needed to secure front tire to a ULock.

I bought this to add another layer of security when I'd be leaving my bike out for longer than a quick pop-in and out from a store. Living in NYC I would NOT recommend this as your only layer of protection, I use this with the Kryptonite Evolution Mini-5 Bicycle U-Lock with Transit FlexFrame Bracket (3.25-Inch x 5.5-Inch) The thing doesn't weigh much and fits coiled up in my backpack. 4 Feet is a good length and it can fit both of my wheels to my U-Lock on the center of the frame. It may be that some bikes have different geometries so try it out before committing to see if you need a longer version. What's also good of it being 4 Feet long is that you can make a sling out of it with the U-Lock locked on either loop at the ends. So I lock it up like that and toss it over my shoulder messenger-bag style and it sits perfectly when I ride. Anything longer and it just becomes cumbersome. I'm 6'1" btw. I've been lucky so far and haven't had anything attempted to be stolen on my bike but I think just another layer of protection would make a thief turn to another bike that is easier to steal.

Kryptonite makes solid bike locks. I wanted some thing lighter than a Ulock or a chain. First off this is just used in the middle of the day locked in front of grocery stores and parking lots very high traffic areas. I would not use this over night or at night in the corner or back of buildings or in parks ! Because your bike will be gone when you get back ! This is a solid braided steel rope just enough to detour some one from a theft or give them a hard enough time in a high traffic area to not make it worth it ! And it has been great for that I use it in combo with a "Master Lock 40KADPF " highly recommended padlock solid as a Rock !

I bought this last year and I'm still using it. Bikes of mine have been stolen a couple times in the past, which is kind of just the nature of living in the big city. But since I've switched to the U-lock with this cable, I haven't had any more issues. It's very flexible when it's warm out and can be looped around a handlebar when riding around. When it's cold, it gets pretty stiff and can be a pain to use, especially with gloves on. However, it's overall been very effective for locking up my bike and gives me the peace of mind that my tires will still be attached when I get back (we've all seen the sad, one-tired bikes lying around).

No pesa, trae velcro para llevar recogido. Hablamos de un cable "quita ganas", es decir: le quita las ganas al ladrón de sustraer, urtar, agacharse y llevarse tu rueda, tu sillín, disuadir a los listillos. Si es un profesional y se le ha metido por ojo robarte, lo corta con gillotina de 30cm, por eso no lo uso para anclar al poste fijo, sino como complemento en zonas más peligrosas que tengo que hacer parada.

This is the second cable that I have purchased. The last one secured my Claude Butler Urban 300 and because I now ride a Fiido Bike I thought that I would use two cables and padlocks as Bikes are expensive and a target. Good value, tested quality, good functionality, easy to use, very sturdy, good security for a short visit to the shops but a y longer like overnight then you will need a much more secure lock like the Kryptonite new York D lock and cable. I make my bike more secure by removing the battery (easy) and placing in my shopping trolley. The bikes no use without it which is a deterrent. I am a skilled electrical mechanical engineer by profession and was an on screen expert for BBC Watchdog and Rogue Traders for some years and subsequently sworn to honesty. I tend to research a product drilling down into the quality and value of the item before I buy. I am not paid for my reviews and have no personal gain from them. I have no difficulty recommending this item. What's not to like. Go buy!

I've had this product for some time and use it on a daily basis . It's the right length to go from one wheel to the other and around a bike stand thus securing the whole bike . The bright orange highlights standout to would-be theives and act as a great deterant .

This is an excellent, high quality flex cable to lock up your property. I use it on my outboard for the boat. It is very thick, with great plastic coating that hasnt worn the gel coat on my boat at all, or on the outboard. It has stayed out in the sun/rain since I bought the cable and still looks like brand new. It has been used for roughly 12 months now, and I can see it lasting a very long time
