Upside down and backwards
Beautiful book. I'm not sure what's going on with my copy though. When I open the cover the first page is the last page. So when I flip to the back cover the beginning of the book starts.

It was a gift..,
.. but my mother loved it. Colouring book in the French edition, by one of her favs, made her day. So nice she bought the standard version so this version stays pristine and will forever remain, coffee table, eye candy.

Provides relaxing activity
This coloring book has been a great way for me to relax at the end of a hard day. It is intricate, so best to have fine tip markers. Once colored in, the scenes are beautiful.

Pure delight
I got this as a gift for my Mom when I could not find the English-language version. She loved it. Johanna Basford has given us all a rare gift of sharing hers.

Beautiful colouring book - quality of paper could be better
This is a beautiful and detailed colouring book for adults and children alike - the designs are wonderful and great fun to colour in.I bought the French version as I'd read the reviews concerning the English one as to how most people were disappointed with the quality of paper used - the English version on Amazon said it was 1cm thick but the French one said it was 1.6cm thick - therefore I assumed that the French publisher had chosen heavier and better quality paper for the book. However - it is only 1cm thick not 1.6 as stated and as with the English version - felt tip pens bleed through to the other side and it is really only good to use crayons which is a shame. I am therefore photocopying the designs onto better paper and using my pens. I hope that for her next colouring book 'The Enchanted Forest' Johanna Basford has listened to her adoring fans and is having it printed on better quality paper.

beautiful and calming passtime
I purchased this for myself along with some colouring pencils, I am 28 and I find this a very relaxing and stress free passtime. It's nice to come home from work and switch off to this, I can sit for hours colouring! This is the French version of the Secret Garden colouring book. It is a gorgeous book, the pictures are fantastic and very detailed. It looks amazing once coloured too. I used colouring pencils for this book and they are perfect. It's much easier to colour objects in different shades with pencil than felt tip and it looks wonderful once completed. I decided to buy this version after reading that the paper quality of the English version was poor. I actually bought both versions of the book and the English copy has a yellow tinge to the paper. Maybe not noticable at 1st but when you put it next to the French version the difference is very clear. I will post a photo showing the difference. I also read that felt tips seap through the pages in the English book making the picture on the other side of the paper useless. I would be happy to use felt tips in this version as the paper is of excellent quality but I opted to use pencils instead.

Pleasure
I still prefer the patterns in this book to the newer 'The Enchanted Forest". Its a personal choice but the Secret Garden has finer detail and more natural flow and for me more pleasing variations. Its a subtle difference. Don't get me wrong I do like The Enchanted Forest (I have the french version of that as well) but this original book is better. However the paper quality in the second book is better for pens than here, I feel I have to use mainly pencils in The Garden. I find the paper very soft and I place a thin acrylic sheet under each page as indentation can show through. French language adds something extra for me. This was the hardback version shipping from Germany.

Beautiful & so addictive.
I bought this as I told the English Version was on a 3 month wait, then all of a sudden the English version turned up, so I gave this to my daughter! It the same as the English version, but written in French, so like the Enchanted Forest book I have, it's absolutely beautiful. The problem I have with it is, it's so addictive, now do I carry on with the ironing, or do a bit more colouring............

A fantastic book, I absolutely love it
A fantastic book, I absolutely love it. I bought the French version first and the paper is crisp white, then I purchased the book in English and the paper has a slightly yellow tint to it. Both colours have their merits, the white looks a little brighter, but the yellowish paper seems a little smoother and my felt tips tend to flow better. Staedtler felt tips and fine pens do bleed through both types of papers just a bit, not enough to be too irritating but my Faber Castell Artist Pitt Brush Pens don't bleed through which is nice, but they are a little too expensive to use in a whole book. Very pleased with both books from Joanna Basford.
