Follow up - One Year Later
A year has gone by now with this little guitar, and I must say, it has proven to be one of the best guitars I own. Yes, I had to right much fret end and leveling work on it at first, but I haven't had to do a single thing to it since. This guitar has very good pups on it for smooth jazz, Bossa Nova, etc., and that is primarily what I like to play. Along with its very good quality, its smaller size makes it great for experimentation with a lot less work on my old fingers. Folks were right about the string gauge. This type of guitar requires a much heavier gauge string than a full scale sized guitar. The physics of it is way beyond me; all I know is that 11's or above are just what this instrument needs, and you won't notice one bit of difference between them and 9's on a regular electric. Great little guitar with amazing playability range.

Excellent
Extremely well-built and sturdy solid body guitar. Sounds perfect and looks amazing. It's one of the better Ibanez guitars that I've owned.

Poor quality control.
Requires professional setup. Out of the box it is unplayable. One of the saddles would not adjust. On further inspection the screw hole was not threaded. I don’t mean it was stripped. It appears that it was a casting error. My daughter was very disappointed that her Christmas required ordering parts before she could play. Other than that it has a fairly aggressive tone and frets easily. The pickups are surprisingly hot. The finish is nice and the guitar seems to be holding up well. All in all it’s a fair guitar but be aware that there may not be much quality control at the manufacturer.

Nice! Stays in tune
Feels good. Looks great. Plays fast like most Ibanez. Shark inlays look cool. Pickups are good but not great. Mine needed to be tuned and lots of adjusting to get the strings to not buzz. Good buy for the price. Comes in a box protected with Styrofoam. Stays in tune

Love this little guitar
I'm very happy with this little travel size guitar. I've had it for guitar a while, at least six months, and it is great.

The next flexes like a twig
Peice of junk. Wont stay in tune, lean against the body and instant tremolo but it’s a hard tail. The next flexes like a twig

Great guitar, nice feel
Great guitar - doesn’t feel “small” when playing, just easier. Definitely not just for kids, good sound, feels great and looks awesome (I got the white).

Not What I Expected
The guitar is under standard size and I received the wrong fretboard color. The guitar has some rich sounding strings but it may be hard to play for individuals with large hands due to your fingers crunching up. It is decent for beginners however 149 with no equipment is kind of unsatisfactory. My take is that if you are into Ibanez and are not on the fringe of throwing 149 towards something that does not meet expectations then buy it. Otherwise this is not the best option out there. I will be generous with a three star rating. I am sure Ibanez has some top end products if you can accumulate players like Paul Stanley but this particular guitar was not the best.
