Over priced
A fantastic single board computer, but currently over priced. If you buy this at £60 then you are being ripped off. Wait a week or two for the price to come down.

Epic - but needs thoughtful cooling
Purchased a pair of Pi 4s to run a domestic network service set (mainly DNS and DHCP, taking over from my router). using the Pi 4 and a copy of PiHole (caching DNS / sink) it is possible to block advertising from your entire home network (including PC, TV, tablets, smartphones, etc. Fabulously easy to set up for the task.Positives1. Remarkably powerful computer-on a board for a competitive price2. Compact and unobtrusive (different layout means you will need a Pi4-specific case, but plenty available)3. Addition of Gigabit Ethernet makes a huge difference in network performance4. Two USB-3 ports means super-fast storage easily added with connected SSD5. Vast library of projects, software, robotics and addons remain compatible and fun to experiment with5. Dual 4K monitor capability via pair of microHDMI ports brings serious Home Theatre potentialNegatives1. Runs much hotter than earlier models and will throttle when it gets warm. No cooling provided - it really needed to have shipped with (optional) heatsinks2. Prices starting to creep up for more powerful models - by the time you add micro-SD, case, etc, it can get expensiveSum-UpThe Pi remains one of the most popular hobbyist, single-board computers for a good reason. Powerful, flexible, reasonably easy to set up and use and with lots of available support, are lots of fun, too. You do need good cooling with this one, though.

Incredibly powerful
I took the plunge and bought my first Raspberry Pi, which I intended to use as a DNS server using Pi Hole. This model has an upgraded processor and 4GB. This was probably overkill for a fairly basic DNS server. It is easily connected thanks to USB-C power, two micro-HDMI, two USB 2, two USB 3 and gigabit ethernet. It also has wi-fi and Bluetooth built in.After setting it up as my DNS server, I decided to push it a bit further by hooking it up to my TV and installing Plex and Kodi.I can happily stream 4K videos online while running my DNS server in the background without any trouble whatsoever. I don't doubt I could push it even further if I wanted to!All in all, this is a very impressive bit of kit. It delivers a lot of power for such a small price tag and tiny physical size.

Twice as fast as PI3
Purchased in August 2019 for 62 GBP. It has been delivered in 2 working days across the channel.Price was lowered to 60 GBP before reception, but Amazon did not reflect that in the bill.It is probably the most popular single board computer of the moment, so there is not muchto comment on it. Given that I absolutely wanted a fully 64-bit system, I have installed Gentoo64-bit Linux on it and it is about twice as fast as the PI3 B regarding CPU speed and microSDreading speed (46 MB/s with a samsung 32 GB EVO Plus); writing is still limited by the card itself.

Get them while they're hot!
Finally - 4gb ram!USB c power is also a step in the right direction, but it overheats waaaay too easily. Active cooling is needed if it's going in a case, which misses the point of a Pi.

Cheap simple computer
Works well as a simple small computer as long as Windows isn't a requirement. Speeds are great for the size and specs but don't expect a super computer out of this.Due to a design bug in the original Raspberry Pi 4 some USB cables do not work to charge it, so make sure you but a compatible cable.

A snappy little computer
This is my first RPi and I am very happy with it. Although a few weeks after this purchase they released the 8gb version, I would have still bought this because I don't think RAM is an issue for most use cases. This mini-computer can run browser sessions with multiple tabs open and videos very well. I am running Ubuntu 20.04 server which doesn't have the 3D-hardware acceleration which makes video playback less smooth and uses more CPU than needed. This however isn't a problem with Raspberr Pi OS. This device runs hot! however with my passive metal heatsink case, the temperatures are kept ~45-57degC most of the time and quiet. This device draws a lot of current for its size hence the heat. I haven't tried 4k video playback but 1080p 60fps is not smooth (probably due to the 3D-acceleration issue eventhough I did try it on RPi OS and the issue was still there), you can try this at Twitch. Overall I think this is a good device for a quiet home entertainment system come room heater :D.

Didn't work for me
***Includes details of what I tried***The Pi 4/4B appears to be a great little machine capable of so much. If you use Raspberry Pi's a lot then they are definitely worth the money. I'm not new to Raspberry Pi's as I own a 3B+, but in this instance I just couldn't get this to boot. Images were written to FAT32 formatted SanDisk 16GB/32GB cards using Etcher straight from raspberrypi.org. They didn't boot on the Pi 4B but were fine on the Pi 3B+. Power supply is a compatible 5V/3A so I can't see it being a power issue. After hours of trying I checked online forums and Youtube videos for help. Recommended test of EEPROM showed the ACT light flashing 4 times meaning the bootloader is fine, but also means it can't find a file on the SD card. Perhaps the card slot is faulty as the cards boot fine on my other Pi?Purchased this as my Pi 3B+ was no longer capable of what I needed it to do, and first impressions aren't great. I'm returning the item and ordering another in the hope that the next one works fine and I can update this review to be more positive.
