Full-Featured, Powerful and Affordable Mini-ITX Board
This board was mounted in a Lian Li PC-TU100B aluminum case, along with an Intel Core i5-4690 CPU, Noctua NH-L9I low-profile cooler, EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti SC Graphics Card, Samsung Electronics 840 Pro Series SSD, Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 memory and Silverstone ST45SF-G 450-Watt SFX full modular power supply. Overall, the board and system components have performed flawlessly, scoring a 7.6 on the Windows Experience Index. The Z97I-PLUS has the latest features geared toward high-performance, including the following:* LGA 1150 socket (support for Intel 4th gen, new 4th gen and 5th gen processors) / Intel Z97 Express Chipset* 2 x DIMM (maximum 16 GB) / Dual-channel memory architecture* 1 x PCI Express 3.0 x 16 slot* Intel HD graphics support / Graphics ports: DisplayPort / HDMI / DVI-I / D-Sub (VGA) / Support for three displays simultaneously* RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and Intel Rapid Storage Technology 13 support / 4 x SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports / 1 x M.2 Socket 3 with M Key* Intel 1218V Gigabit LAN* WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with dual frequency band 2.4/5.0 Ghz support / External WiFi antenna* Bluetooth v4.0* Realtek ALC892 7.1-channel high definition audio / Front panel audio connector / Rear panel optical S/PDIF port* 6 x USB 3.0 ports (4 ports at rear panel + 2 ports mid-board) / 6 x USB 2.0 ports (4 ports at rear panel + 2 ports mid-board)* 1 x 4-pin CPU fan connector / 2 x 4-pin chassis fan connectors / Support for both 3-pin (DC) and 4-pin (PWM) fan control modes* 4 x SATA 6.0 Gb/s cables (2 cables straight connectors / 2 cables 90 degree connectors)* 1 x WiFi antenna connectorLike other reviewers have mentioned, the WiFi antenna connector is somewhat difficult to install because of its small size. This accessory consists of 2 threaded posts that are installed through the I/O shield and has wires that are just long enough to reach the snap-type pins on the board WiFi controller chip. Perhaps ASUS should have provided some type of board-mounted connector for this feature (similar to that used on MSI Z97 mini-ITX boards), but this is only a minor annoyance and does not detract from the outstanding feature set and overall quality of the board itself. If you are looking for a fully-featured and reasonably-priced board for your mini-ITX build, this board should definitely be at the top of your list.

One Star
Excellent Motherboard.EDIT 05/07/2017I will have to rate down this mobo to 1 star. I originally purchased this product on April 6, 2015, and now the PC completely fails to turn on.

Great mini itx board
Had to take one star because the first one I got was doa. I took my pc apart and put it together 3 times and it would not post. Amazon sent me another one free of charge and it fired up on the first crack. Everything is running solid now. Great mini itx board.

Either poor design choices or defective unit
My board has had some issues compared to the board it replaced (ASRock Z87E-ITX).First, overclocking isn't stable. I used to run my i7-4770K at 4.4GHz @ 1.225V, rock solid. On this board, I repeatedly crash, even at 1.23V.Second, fan control is either poorly designed or broken on my unit. I plugged my radiator into the CPU header, radiator fan into Chassis 1, and chassis fan into Chassis 2. I then updated my uEFI version, after which I discovered my Chassis 1/2 fan headers had switched their places in the uEFI (radiator fan now is Chassis 2, vice versa). This wouldn't be an issue, but it now turns out that the middle fan header (originally Chassis 1) is broken - PWM does not work and using DC mode messes with the speed of the other fans installed.I'm disappointed in this board - ASUS is one of the best mobo manufacturers, and they've made some mistakes with this product. I will be contacting ASUS Support, and if this behavior is not normal, I will be RMA replacing this board.

Lots of features, gimped on-board NIC
Pros: *TONS* of features packed onto a mighty small board! M.2 slot under the mobo for the win! (Just hope it doesn't blow out! Zoniks!)Cons: The Intel I281V PHY (NIC) blowz chunks under Win10 64-bit. Absolutely horrid performance. Maxes out at ~76 MBs and is *extremely* erratic. Unusable for large file transfers. The nic appears to be sharing bandwidth with the USB 3.0 hub also. I think the problem is a driver issue, but it persists through the latest available as of today (Win10 20.2 PV). The most stable drivers are the default ones from M$ (once you can get them, as the nic is *not* supported out of the box by Win10. M$ Driver version is 12.12.50.6 dated 3/20/2015), but the performance is utterly horrid. Had to drop in another NIC (Pro/1000 PT) into the single X16 slot to move the data off to another box for processing. Since there's only one PCIe expansion slot... you're very limited with options for this gimped onboard NIC (USB = UnSuitaBle for anything but toys) but even a USB NIC would be better than the onboard. The I218V performance issues are also reported with the NUC's that have the same PHY.Hopefully the drivers will improve in the future.

Watch out for the Wifi installation part and you'll be fine with this wonderful motherboard!
No problems, booted right up and works great, but had some trouble with the Wifi but eventually got everything to work. A few things to watch out for:1. As everyone mentions, don't snap the port back plate onto your case before you install the wifi module, or you will have a very bad time. First, take the back plate and punch out the holes where the wifi antennas will go through. If you don't do this, you'll have to remove everything and start over. You've been warned!2. When screwing in the wifi module, be careful about grounding, as I had issues when the mounting screw touched the metal of the case. This caused driver installation errors, dropped wifi, and all sorts of weird issues. Loosening the tension on the screws holding the wifi module in placed fixed everything.Overall a really solid board and a pretty fun Mini-ITX build. Pretty happy with the results, and pretty happy with Asus once again.

Amazing universal motherboard! Gaming, Business, or Causal ITX.
Considering how many computers I have fixed for people in the past; this board was like looking at some reality that I have missed my whole life.Simply put - the age of ugly, text based BIOS UIs is finally over!!!Besides that, this board offers a lot of great features like Overclocking support (for CPU, GPU, and even RAM), advanced boot management, power management (fast charging), fan management (or cooling), and even built in surge and short out protection (not tested personally). It even has embedded Bluetooth 4.0 and external Wi-Fi antenna). This board does a lot more that its size suggests (USB 3.0, SATA III, Intel Rapid Storage), and I highly recommend it for your next ITX build! Also, the Windows drivers work amazing on Windows 8/8.1!!! I strongly recommended that you install them to get the best experience possible from this motherboard. I am running a Intel Core i7 3.6 GHz processor on this board without any problems.EDIT (21/10/14):Yesterday I made the mistake of plugging in a PS/2 keyboard and rebooting the computer twice. I think it is something wrong with Windows 8.1, but my Windows installation could not recognize any of my USB devices (even with the PS/2 keyboard uninstalled). The only fix I could find is to reinstall Windows 8. It is very tedious, but thankfully none of my hardware was damaged, and it was easy to reconfigure my software. Also, if you are installing a High-End Graphics Card (like a Radeon R9 290X), make sure that BOTH power connectors on the GPU are connected to the Power supply. Also, windows 8.1 is able to recognize the card, while Windows 8 has a hard time finding the right drivers for it. This motherboard automatically configures the GPU (by default), and will automatically disable the integrated one unless you tell the BIOS to use both. This is truly q great motherboard for the value!!!

Five Stars
It's too bad this motherboard is discontinued. It's fantastic and efficient. The bios is extremely easy to read.
